In their own words
ePubEditor
ePubEditor is an online environment for authoring EPUB3 ebooks, including multimedia and interactive content. It is particularly suited to educational and textbook projects, including use with tablets such as Apple iPad. Authors can add images, MP3 audio, and MP4 video, or embed videos such as YouTube. Exercise types include multiple choice, true/false, gap-fill, drag-and-drop, and association activities. The editor imports ODT documents and can export EPUB3, EPUB2, PDF, SCORM, or a web microsite, depending on plan features. SCORM exports can be used in compatible e-learning platforms such as Moodle, with use tracking. The free plan costs nothing and provides basic features for one user. Premium Single costs €36 a year; Premium Team costs €99 a year for up to 35 users; Premium Team Extended costs €299 a year for unlimited users within one institution or business. A free 30-day trial of the full Team Extended version is available through a team code, after which the account returns to the free plan. It supports Android, iOS, and web.
FlowPaper
FlowPaper converts PDFs into mobile-friendly interactive flipbooks and web publications. Its browser viewer compresses graphics and loads only the pages currently visible. The desktop publisher adds links, images, galleries and video from YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia or self-hosted locations. Publications can be hosted on FlowPaper Cloud or self-hosted; the company says self-hosting has no publication-count limit. A JavaScript API exposes methods and events for integrating the viewer into an application or webpage. FlowPaper supports page-by-page Google Analytics tracking, while higher plans list heatmap and engagement analytics. The Free plan costs nothing and includes cloud hosting, FlowPaper branding and publishing for 90 days. Zine costs $75, paid once, Creative costs $85 a month, and Enterprise costs $995 a year. Cloud publication quotas vary by plan: Zine has 50 and Creative has 75, while the services-account FAQ lists 500 for Team and Enterprise accounts. The listed platforms include web, desktop, mobile and self-hosted options.
