Etoolio Easy Read Checker is a free browser tool that evaluates text against Easy Read and plain-language principles. Paste text or upload a plain-text.txt file to receive a score out of 100, highlighted problem sentences and words, and suggested fixes. It estimates reading age and checks sentence length, difficult or uncommon words, passive voice, capitalised words, and number, time, and date formats. The page says Easy Read guidance generally targets readers aged around 7 to 9 years. An optional AI rewrite changes wording into short lines with one idea per line while aiming to preserve facts, names, and numbers. Checks run in the browser, and pasted text is not uploaded; only the optional rewrite sends text to a server, where the page says it is not stored.
