In their own words
Exif Lens
Exif Lens is an iPhone app for viewing, editing, and removing photo EXIF metadata. It displays file details, camera settings, and GPS coordinates, then lets users change capture dates and times with a calendar and custom time picker. Locations can be added, changed, or removed by searching for a place or moving a map pin. Camera fields include maker, model, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and focal length; an interactive dial sets compass direction. The app can strip GPS data or remove all metadata before sharing, and batch tools apply date or location changes or metadata removal to selected photos. Library filters include favorites, media type, and location status. Changes save to the photo library, and sharing can include or omit metadata. The maker says processing stays on the device, with no servers, uploads, tracking, analytics, third-party SDKs, or data collection. The App Store listing requires iOS 17.0 or later. The free plan is free and includes metadata viewing and library browsing, filtering, and sorting. Pro is $0.99 per month; the listing also shows a yearly option at $9.99.
ExifCleaner
ExifCleaner is a desktop app for removing metadata from supported images, media files, and PDFs. You can drop files or folders into it and process large batches, then inspect a before-and-after diff of the metadata fields removed from each file. Options include preserving image orientation and timestamps, saving copies, and removing macOS extended attributes. The project states that the app has no automatic updates or network traffic, zero telemetry, and no phone-home behavior. It supports macOS 12 or later, Windows 10 or later, and 64-bit Linux, and includes 25 languages with in-app switching. Its tested intake list includes image formats, media such as MP4 and MOV, and PDFs. Some formats, including RAF, MKV, TIFF, AVIF, and certain RAW files, may be only partly handled or unsupported. PDF metadata removal is reversible, so original metadata remains recoverable rather than securely erased. ExifCleaner is open source under the MIT License. It is free.
