In their own words
ExplorerPatcher
ExplorerPatcher is a free Windows program for adjusting parts of the desktop working environment. It lets users configure taskbar styling, including a Windows 10 taskbar, and offers controls for taskbar positioning, sizing, app grouping, and multiple monitors. A Windows 10 Start menu style is available, although release notes say it was removed on some newer builds that lack required system components. The program can also configure the Windows 10 Alt+Tab switcher. Separate setup programs are provided for Intel or AMD processors and Snapdragon processors. Built-in updates can be configured, checked, and installed from the Properties interface. The project is distributed under a GPL-2.0 license. Its GitHub repository is identified as the only official distribution channel. Compatibility varies by Windows build, and some features may be unavailable on some versions. The listed plan price is free.
TaskbarX
TaskbarX is a free, open-source Windows utility for positioning taskbar icons and changing taskbar styling. Icons can be placed at the exact center or nudged left or right, with adjustable spacing and size. Animation choices include fade, slide, other easing styles, or no animation. Backgrounds can be transparent, blurred, opaque, or accent-colored. Unlimited taskbars can have independent settings per monitor, including vertical taskbars. The portable build needs no installer, makes no registry edits, and uses no background services. TaskbarX is released under the MIT license. The site says Windows 10 is fully supported; on Windows 11, centering works through build 22621.1265 but not on modern builds. Version 1.7.8.0 is listed as latest stable, and the GitHub repository is archived and read-only. A Store version offers automatic updates for an optional donation.
