Overview

Studio connects Rokoko body, finger and face capture tools with Vision, its video-to-animation AI mocap option. It also handles editing, live streaming and export, taking captured motion toward a character animation project without making capture the only step it supports.

The strongest fit is for creators already using Rokoko capture tools, or teams that need to retarget and clean motion before passing it to another application. Studio runs on Windows and macOS, not as a browser-based editor. Its Vision processing and import quotas also mean that a plan that works for occasional clips may constrain a busier pipeline.

Key features

Capture and cleanup

Studio supports body, face and hand tracking, and connects Rokoko’s body, finger and face capture tools. Vision adds video-based AI mocap. Editing tools include custom character import, retargeting, pose correction, root and foot locking, and knee-pop smoothing. This range gives users options for correcting motion before export; whether it is useful depends on the capture route and monthly allowance their work requires.

Output and integrations

Starter exports FBX; paid plans add BVH, while CSV is available on Pro and Enterprise. Real-time plugins connect Studio with Blender, Houdini, Unity, Unreal, Maya, Cinema 4D, Reallusion and MotionBuilder. That makes it a practical intermediary for teams delivering into those tools, but users who need CSV must budget for a higher tier.

Storage and support

Starter includes one month of cloud storage, while Basic and above include unlimited cloud storage. Studio syncs data and content through Amazon Web Services infrastructure. Plus includes chat and email support; Pro adds a designated Customer Success Manager. Rokoko says its privacy policy applies to Studio and related apps, is designed to comply with laws including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, and that it takes reasonable technical and organizational security measures.

Pricing

Rokoko offers a free Starter plan, paid subscriptions and a seven-day trial of Plus or Pro for new accounts. The pricing details below distinguish annual billing from monthly billing; the annual prices are monthly rates billed annually.

Plan	Price and billing	What it includes
Starter	Free forever	30 seconds/month Vision AI processing, 5 Studio imports/month, one month of cloud storage and FBX export.
Basic	10.00 USD per month, billed annually; or 12.00 USD per month, billed monthly	Starter features, custom character import and retargeting, BVH export and advanced options, 600 seconds/month Vision AI processing, 100 Text-to-Motion imports/month and unlimited cloud storage.
Plus	20.00 USD per month, billed annually; or 28.00 USD per month, billed monthly	Basic features, live streaming to third-party tools, unlimited team members and user management, custom skeleton presets, chat and email support, 3,000 seconds/month Vision AI processing and 1,000 Text-to-Motion imports/month.
Pro	50.00 USD per month, billed annually; or 70.00 USD per month, billed monthly	Plus features, Face Capture, advanced Command API, UDP trigger messages, CSV export, a designated Customer Success Manager, 15,000 seconds/month Vision AI processing and unlimited Text-to-Motion imports.
Enterprise	100.00 USD per year, billed starting from; contact sales	Local storage with no cloud sync, extra offline days, custom support hours, custom onboarding and SLA.

Starter is suitable for trying the workflow or processing a small amount of Vision footage, but 30 seconds and five imports a month are tight limits for regular production. Basic raises those caps and unlocks character import, retargeting and BVH, making it the sensible step for individual users with moderate needs. Plus is for teams that need live streaming, team management or more processing; its 3,000-second Vision allowance and 1,000 imports still impose a ceiling. Pro is the clearest fit for heavier throughput or workflows needing Face Capture, CSV and API controls, while Enterprise suits organizations that need local storage, offline time or tailored support. The seven-day trial applies to Plus or Pro, not Starter.

Platforms

Studio runs on Windows 10 64-bit and macOS Big Sur, with at least 8GB of RAM required on either platform. That covers desktop animation workflows on the two major operating systems, but not users who need a Linux or browser-based Studio application.

Who it's for

Rokoko serves creators in animation and VFX, game development and education. Studio makes most sense for people who need capture, retargeting and cleanup in a desktop pipeline, particularly when they use Rokoko capture tools or one of its real-time plugin targets. It is less compelling for a user who needs only a lightweight video-to-motion route, or whose work exceeds the chosen plan’s processing and import caps.

Pros and cons

Pros: Capture, editing, retargeting and export sit in one application, reducing the need to separate those stages across tools.
Pros: FBX, BVH and CSV coverage, plus real-time plugins for major 3D and game tools, gives projects multiple delivery routes.
Pros: Higher tiers scale from team streaming and management to CSV, API controls and a dedicated customer success contact.
Cons: Starter’s 30 seconds of Vision processing and five monthly imports limit its usefulness for ongoing work.
Cons: CSV is reserved for Pro and Enterprise, so users needing that format face a substantial tier jump.
Cons: The desktop app is limited to Windows and macOS, and even the 8GB minimum may rule it out for some machines.

Alternatives

Mocai is worth considering if broad platform coverage, including mobile, web and self-hosting, matters more than Studio’s Rokoko-centered capture and editing workflow; its free plan allows one minute of footage monthly and clips up to 15 seconds.

Rokoko Create is another freemium Rokoko option, with a free Starter plan that includes 30 seconds of Vision processing per month, unlimited text-to-motion clips and five Studio imports.

Move AI offers a free allocation of 30 credits that do not expire, with videos up to 30 seconds; its listed Starter plan costs 18.00 USD per month plus VAT.

Animaze is an alternative to compare for avatar-focused work.

mimem.ai offers a free plan with daily tokens, 2 GB storage, three cameras and three monthly FBX exports, but retargeting is preview-only.

QuickMagic has a free plan with FBX export, a 30-second video maximum, two queued videos and 15-day storage; it is a web- and API-based option.

visage|SDK is a paid option with custom commercial licensing and quote-based terms.

XR Animator is a free public version to consider as a no-cost alternative.

Verdict

Rokoko Studio is a strong choice for animation, VFX and game teams that want capture, retargeting, cleanup and export together, especially when Rokoko hardware or its plugin ecosystem is already part of the pipeline. Its main drawback is the cost and quota trade-off: Starter is sharply limited, while higher processing, CSV and advanced controls require paid tiers. Choose it when that integrated workflow is valuable; look elsewhere if you need a browser or Linux desktop app, or a less constrained low-cost route.
