Overview

The tool generates image content beyond a photo’s existing borders, allowing a new composition without cropping away the subject. It is useful when one source image needs to serve formats with different proportions, though the blend between generated and original areas is an intended outcome rather than a stated guarantee.

Image Expand is part of a broader platform supporting GPT, Claude, Google, DeepSeek, Grok, Mistral and GLM model families. iMini says transformed images may be used commercially, a useful allowance for business workflows.

Key features

Outpainting: Generate scenery beyond the existing edges while matching light and texture. This suits photos that need more background, not a different subject or a tighter crop.
Aspect-ratio changes: Rework square photos as widescreen banners or landscape images as vertical stories without cropping the subject. That makes the tool relevant to marketers and sellers adapting creative for different placements.
Seam-conscious expansion: The new area is designed to blend into the source without visible seams. It may reduce the need for manual compositing, but no universal result is promised.
Privacy and sign-in: iMini says data is encrypted in transit and at rest and personal data is not used to train AI models. It also says it does not sell user information, is GDPR compliant, and offers optional two-factor authentication. Google sign-in and syncing are supported.
Enterprise API: REST API access comes with documentation, rate limits and dedicated technical support for Enterprise customers. This is the relevant route for integrating the service into a workflow; access is not described for lower plans.
Support: Help center, live chat, email, community forums and video tutorials give users several support channels.

Pricing

iMini uses a freemium model. The Free plan is free and has limited features, making it a low-commitment way to assess the service, but its image-expansion allowance is not quantified.

Pro costs 10.00 USD per month (billed US$10.0/month) and includes 10,000 credits, up to 200 AI image generations, 100 AI video generations, 100 Agent tasks and 30GB of cloud storage. It is the entry paid tier for individuals who need more than the limited free access. Max costs 30.00 USD per month (billed US$30/month), with 30,000 credits, up to 600 image generations, 300 video generations, 300 Agent tasks and 100GB storage; it suits heavier use. Ultra costs 100.00 USD per month (billed US$100/month) and raises those allowances to 100,000 credits, up to 2,000 image generations, 1,000 video generations, 1,000 Agent tasks and 300GB storage, a fit for substantially greater usage.

These are platform-wide allowances, not image-expansion-only quotas, so the generation caps matter if other iMini tools also draw on them. File-size and quality limits vary by tool and plan; higher tiers support larger files and batch processing. Enterprise API access is offered with custom pricing.

Platforms

The primary platform is web. iMini also supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows and extensions, alongside API access. The API is specifically available to Enterprise customers.

Who it's for

Designers and print designers can use expansion to adapt compositions to different formats while retaining the subject. Marketers and e-commerce sellers have a similar reason to choose it when an image must fit banners, stories or other placements. It is less compelling for occasional users whose needs are covered by the limited free plan, or for buyers who need a known file cap before committing: limits depend on tool and tier.

Pros and cons

Pro: Aspect-ratio changes can preserve the subject instead of forcing a crop, which addresses a common production constraint.
Pro: Commercial use is stated, and privacy protections include encryption, no AI training on personal data and optional two-factor authentication.
Pro: Paid tiers scale in credits, generation caps and storage, with larger files and batch processing supported at higher levels.
Con: The free tier is described only as limited, so it is difficult to judge how much image expansion it will cover.
Con: File and quality limits vary by tool and plan, making suitability for a particular production asset dependent on the tier.
Con: Pro, Max and Ultra bundle image, video and Agent allowances; buyers focused only on expansion may not need all of those platform quotas.

Verdict

Choose iMini AI Image Expand if your work regularly needs the same photo reframed for different placements and you value commercial-use permission, platform-wide capacity and broad device support. Its main advantage is keeping the subject in frame while extending the canvas; look elsewhere if you need a clearly quantified free expansion allowance or predictable file limits before choosing a plan.
