Overview

Findmykids pairs a parent’s phone with a child’s phone or GPS watch for location checks and parental controls. It suits families who want safety alerts and app-use reporting alongside tracking. Its breadth is useful, but several controls are paid and Sound Around has device and location restrictions.

Key features

Location refreshes every few seconds, with routes, unlimited history and notifications for places a child visits. This is more useful for reviewing journeys than a simple live map, but the free Básico plan offers only the current location and one movement notification; real-time movements and detailed routes start with Cuidar.

Place notifications cover routine arrivals and departures, while SOS gives a child a way to signal a parent, including when the parent’s phone is silent. Loud Signal works in the other direction, alerting the child through their smartphone even when it is silent. These tools are most relevant when a child carries a connected phone or GPS watch.

Sound Around lets a parent hear the child’s surroundings, and the child’s device shows a notification when listening begins. It is unavailable for children using iPhones and when either parent or child is in Germany or Austria. Families that consider this feature essential should look elsewhere if either restriction applies.

App-use reports show which apps a child used and how long they spent in them, with overtime notifications. Plus adds app blocking, protection against removal and call filtering, making it the more complete choice for parents seeking direct phone-use controls rather than location alone.

The child’s device connects through the Pingo app or a GPS watch. Findmykids also describes a web version for location tracking and says the app can run autonomously on Apple Watch without a connected phone. The privacy policy says sound, audio, usage statistics, fitness data and activity-recognition data are not stored on company servers, and only the connected parent can access that information in the app. It also says personal information from accounts of children under 13 is not used or shared for marketing or advertising.

Pricing

The freemium structure gives families a way to start without paying, but the free tier is a location sampler rather than a substitute for paid route tracking and controls. Básico is free and includes current location, one movement notification and three super signals.

Cuidar costs 3.58 EUR per month, billed 42,99 €. It adds real-time movements, movement notifications, super signals, detailed routes, chat assistance and family access for two more loved ones. It is the sensible fit for families prioritizing ongoing location coverage and shared access.

Plus costs 6.25 EUR per month, billed 74,99 €. It includes Cuidar benefits and adds app-use time, app blocking, protection against removal, call filtering and a premium icon, with family access for two more loved ones. Choose it for phone-use management; Cuidar is the lower-cost option if detailed tracking is the priority.

Platforms

Findmykids supports Android, iOS and web. Parents use an iPhone or Android phone, while the child connects through Pingo or a GPS watch; the web version is for location tracking. The standalone Apple Watch option may suit a family that wants the app to run without a connected phone.

Who it's for

This is a strong fit for parents who want frequent location updates, route history, safety alerts and app-use oversight in one setup, especially families using GPS watches for younger children. It is less suitable for families that need unrestricted Sound Around availability or only want basic location sharing without paid controls.

Pros and cons

Pros: Frequent updates, unlimited location history and detailed paid routes support both live checks and journey review.
Pros: SOS, silent-mode alerts and Loud Signal address different safety situations.
Pros: Plus combines usage reports with blocking, removal protection and call filtering.
Cons: The free plan is limited to current location and one movement notification, so route tracking requires Cuidar.
Cons: Sound Around does not work for children on iPhones or families in Germany or Austria.
Cons: The richer phone controls require the higher-priced Plus plan.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Family Locator Apps. Choose Family Locator if a free version with complete functionality or a one-time Lifetime purchase is more appealing. iSharing is worth considering for a free plan with place alerts, a seven-day history and driving report after watching an ad, plus standard SOS.

CircleUs may suit families who value a free tier with up to five members, three place alerts, real-time location and temporary sharing. OtoZen is another freemium option for Android and iOS families. Be Closer offers free real-time location, with unlimited history in its Premium plan. For a lower-cost paid option, BuddySOS has a Pro plan at 1.99 USD per month that removes ads and adds groups and zones.

Fameelee is an alternative with a 1 Month plan at 35.00 CNY per month. Family Beacon is a free Android and web option for live location sharing and SOS.

Verdict

Choose Findmykids if you want child-focused location tracking, safety alerts and app-use controls, particularly with a GPS watch in the family. Its strongest case is the combination of detailed paid tracking and phone-management tools; look elsewhere if you need Sound Around on an iPhone or in Germany or Austria, or if the free location limits are too restrictive.
