In their own words
Fancy Mumble
Fancy Mumble is a free, self-hosted voice chat product for gaming, podcasts, communities, and study groups. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Android, supports the Mumble protocol and Opus codec, and includes a noise gate, automatic gain control, and AI-powered noise removal. HD screen sharing uses WebRTC and includes a drawing overlay. Chat supports emoji reactions, edited and pinned messages, spoiler tags, syntax-highlighted code blocks, link previews, and file sharing. Sandboxed Rust server plugins are available through a Plugin Store. Screen sharing, file hosting, plugins, live document editing, watch-together, and Signal-grade end-to-end encryption require a compatible server; the maker recommends its server fork for full support. The maker says no analytics, account, or email is required. Users can run the Starling server with Docker Compose or a release package. The free plan is free and open-source under MIT.
GameVox
GameVox provides voice, video, and text chat for gaming communities, including teams, clans, roleplay servers, and groups of friends. Its servers combine channels, file storage, and screen sharing; the free plan allows up to 100 members, five voice channels, eight text channels, 2 GB of storage, and 500 MB per file. Free users can share screens at 1080p 30fps, while Diamond servers support up to native 4K 60fps. GameLink adds proximity voice and 3D spatial audio for Arma 3, FiveM, RedM, RAGE:MP, and alt:V. A Discord import can clone channels, roles, permissions, emoji, soundboard sounds, events, and server assets, while Discord Relay mirrors messages and related activity. Existing discord.js, discord.py, JDA, or Eris bots can run by changing gateway and REST configuration endpoints. Signup can start with a username and password without an email, phone number, or ID. Self-hosted servers keep voice, messages, files, and community data on the operator's machine while using GameVox cloud for authentication and updates. GameVox launched in open beta in 2026 and supports web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
