In their own words
FastBack
FastBack is a free Minecraft mod for making incremental snapshots of Java worlds: each snapshot records only the parts that have changed. It can save backups locally, send them to another Git repository, or write them to a network drive without a Git server. Automatic backups can run when a world shuts down or after Minecraft autosaves, with a configurable minimum wait between runs. A snapshot can be restored as a separate world copy, so the current world files remain unchanged. Retention options include daily, fixed-count, GFS, and all-snapshots policies; snapshots can also include mod jars and configuration files. FastBack works on Minecraft clients and dedicated servers, with Linux, Mac, and Windows support. Separate Fabric and NeoForge mod files are listed. It requires native Git and Git LFS to be installed and available on the Minecraft process PATH. Garbage collection can take more than five minutes, and the documentation recommends running git gc directly for worlds larger than 1 GB. The mod is distributed under GNU Public License version 2; modpack use requires attribution with a link to the project page.
FolderRewind
FolderRewind is a free Windows application for backing up and restoring files, project data, and game saves. It offers full, smart incremental, and overwrite backups using 7-Zip, with 7z and zip compression and configurable levels, methods, and thread counts. The home page says encrypted backups use AES-256. Automation can run at intervals, on a schedule, at startup, for selected targets, or when conditions are met. FolderRewind uses rclone to transfer local backup chains to cloud storage as an extra redundancy layer; its guide demonstrates OneDrive setup and mentions WebDAV bridges such as OpenList. The official MineRewind extension adds Minecraft save discovery, hot backup and restore, hotkeys, and coordination with the current world. Restoring partial backups forces Overwrite and disables Clean to prevent removing files outside the backup scope. Requirements are Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, on x64 or ARM64. The maker recommends Microsoft Store; MSI is marked beta and MSIX is offered for advanced sideloading.
