In their own words
Favium
Favium generates favicon and app icon files from images, browser canvas content, or text. Its outputs include ICO files, PNGs, HTML snippets, and web manifests. ICO files can bundle 16, 32, 48, and 256 pixel entries, while PNG favicons can be exported at any resolution. In a browser, its canvas API creates favicons from an HTMLCanvasElement without a server. The CLI accepts local files, directories, WebP images, and remote URLs, and can create lettermark icons from text. Presets include default, web-app, apple-android, and custom options, with custom size bundles available. The web-app preset is described as ready for Android, iOS, and browsers; the generated assets are described as compatible with modern browsers, PWAs, and mobile devices. Favium is a free, open-source tool under the MIT license. The site shows installation with npm install favium and CLI use with npx favium-cli@latest, and welcomes contributions, issues, and feedback.
@profullstack/favicon-generator
@profullstack/favicon-generator creates icon files for iOS and progressive web apps from SVG or PNG source images. Its standard outputs include Apple Touch Icons sized from 57×57 to 180×180 and PWA icons from 192×192 to 512×512. Users can also request 16×16 and 32×32 favicons, or disable favicon generation. JPG is not supported. The package includes a command-line interface with interactive operation and options for image quality, compression, output directory, and silent mode. Developers can call its ESM functions, `generateIcons` and `generateCustomIcons`, and configure PNG quality, compression, favicon sizes, and custom icon sizes. Installation is available with pnpm, npm, or yarn, including global installation for the CLI. It requires Node.js 20 or later and ESM support. The README recommends a square PNG of at least 512×512; a smaller or non-square PNG triggers a warning, though generation continues with upscaling and padding. The repository uses the MIT license, and its README points users to GitHub for issues and questions.
