Overview

Field Agent connects brands and retailers with people who gather information while shopping in stores and online. It is best for adults seeking varied retail assignments and organizations that need to run field projects. The free shopper app is appealing, but earnings depend on approval, and denied work goes unpaid.

Key features

Assignments range from audits and surveys to Buy & Trys, ratings and reviews, Eye Spys, scavenger hunts, and mystery shops. Shoppers reserve a job, complete it, submit it for review, and receive cash if approved. That variety offers different ways to participate, but the approval gate makes the pay conditional; Field Agent also says it does not use information from submissions it denies.

Jobs span major retailers including Walgreens, 7-Eleven, Dollar General, Albertsons, McDonald's, Best Buy, Kroger, Target, Kohl's, Publix, Costco, and CVS. Assignment scheduling, a shopper portal, multiple evidence-collection options, shopper payments, and results analytics support both completing tasks and managing their outputs.

For project teams, the API can create jobs, manage templates, launch projects, retrieve results, and optionally use webhooks. That makes it relevant beyond the shopper app, particularly for organizations coordinating assignments and collecting results programmatically.

Field Agent may use Plaid to connect an account with a bank account and verify bank information, while Dwolla originates credit transfers to an agent's financial-institution account. The company says transmission is protected with SSL encryption and that it does not sell users' personal information. Users must be at least 18 to register. An Agent Help Center covers sign-up, cash-out, account questions, app features, jobs, and troubleshooting.

Pricing

The Field Agent App plan costs 0.00 USD per free on Android or iOS, for users aged 18 or older. The app itself is free, but that does not mean assignments are guaranteed earnings: payment follows approval, and denied submissions are unpaid. Field Agent's pricing model is paid and its pricing note is pricing on request, so organizations should expect to ask about project costs rather than infer them from the free shopper app.

Platforms

Field Agent supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. The mobile app is the route for shoppers; the API supports organizations creating and managing jobs and retrieving project results. Supported countries are the United States, Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, and Great Britain, though country coverage alone does not ensure a nearby assignment.

Who it's for

Field Agent suits adults willing to complete shopping-based tasks with the understanding that approval determines payment. It is also a fit for brands and retailers that need shopper-collected evidence, project management, and API access. It is a poor choice for anyone who needs guaranteed compensation for every completed submission.

Pros and cons

Pros: A broad mix of assignment types and major retail locations gives shoppers several kinds of work to pursue.
Pros: Organizations can create jobs, launch projects, and retrieve results through the API, with optional webhooks.
Pros: The shopper app is free, and the Agent Help Center addresses practical account, job, and cash-out questions.
Cons: Denied submissions earn no payment, making the value of a completed task uncertain until review.
Cons: The 18+ age requirement excludes younger shoppers.
Cons: Organization pricing is on request, so teams cannot assess project cost from a public price.

Alternatives

Mystery Shopping Software is a broader category to explore when comparing options beyond one platform.

Choose Mitti Training instead if inspection templates and basic training are the priority: its free plan covers up to 10 users, 300 AI credits per full seat per month, and five active inspection templates. Gigwalk is another free-to-download mobile option; individual Gigs pay $3 to $100 or more depending on the task, which gives a stated task-pay range that Field Agent does not provide here.

IntouchCheck is worth considering for customizable site-visit and inspection templates, with a free trial and monthly billing by default. iSecretShop offers a free plan for businesses and asks prospective buyers to contact sales about platform pricing.

Mystery Management is another paid mystery-shopping option. PRISM Mystery Shopping Platform is a paid option with API access. InspectWrk (formerly Inspectly360) may suit teams that want a 14-day trial with one team, mobile app, AI photo and voice capture, checklist building, and reporting. Shopmetrics NEXT is a paid alternative with demo requests.

Verdict

Field Agent is a strong fit for adults who want varied shopping assignments and for organizations that need to launch and track retail projects through an API. Its free app and range of task types are the main draws; the decisive reason to look elsewhere as a shopper is that rejected submissions bring no pay, while organizations must request pricing before budgeting.
