In their own words
Files.com
Files.com is a file transfer and storage platform with native apps for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Its desktop apps can mount cloud storage as a local drive. Users can send branded links, collect files through inboxes, and allow browser previews or editing; partners and non-technical teammates can exchange files without accounts or VPNs. The platform lists more than 50 native integrations and provides a REST API, seven official SDKs, a CLI, Terraform, webhooks and MCP. Its listed security controls include SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, MFA, role-based access and immutable audit logs. Files are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.2 and 1.3 in transit. Files.com states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and FedRAMP certified under FedRAMP 20x Class A. Paid plans start with Starter at $199 a month, billed monthly, including 10 Full Users, 50 System Users, two outbound connections, and 1 TB monthly storage and transfer. Power costs $499 a month, billed monthly. There is no free plan; a 7-day trial is available.
rclone
Rclone is a free command-line program for managing files on cloud storage. It can back up and restore files, mirror or migrate data, mount storage as a disk, and combine file systems. The project lists more than 70 cloud storage products, including Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, and Backblaze B2. Sync options include copying changed files, one-way sync, and two-way bisync. Rclone checks MD5 and SHA1 hashes, preserves timestamps, and can restart operations. Where supported, it transfers between providers without using local disk. It can mount local, cloud, or virtual file systems and serve files over SFTP, HTTP, WebDAV, FTP, and DLNA. Rclone is also available through scripts and an API. Its crypt remote encrypts files before upload and decrypts them after download, but leaves file length and modification time unencrypted. The crypt password in the configuration file is only lightly obscured unless configuration encryption is enabled. The web-based GUI is described as experimental, and Android builds are not yet first-class builds.
