Overview

Managers can build schedules in a spreadsheet-style editor, move shifts by drag and drop, edit multiple cells at once and reuse templates. Employees can request shifts, swap them and manage time off. This mix suits teams with recurring patterns or frequent staff changes, while managers who want software to build the rota for them should look elsewhere.

The time clock and timesheets record actual hours worked and are included on every plan, including Free. Approved timesheets can feed reports comparing scheduled hours and costs with actual figures, giving managers a way to monitor labor against the plan. Messages and notifications can be sent by email, push notification or SMS; SMS costs extra, so frequent text alerts add to the bill.

Key features

Timekeeping is a notable strength: small teams can record hours without paying for a separate time-tracking tier. Shift swaps and time-off management help handle schedule changes, but they do not replace automatic schedule creation.

Findmyshift integrates with Xero, Slack, Lightspeed, Vend, Square, BambooHR, CakeHR, Google Workspace, Monday and People HR. Its API supports API keys and OAuth 2.0, with a limit of one concurrent request per application or key. That cap may matter to teams building integrations that send overlapping requests.

The company says it encrypts database and backup data, enforces SSL on all pages, and hashes and salts passwords. It also says it is GDPR compliant and gives users controls to delete, download and modify their data.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and is free forever. It supports 5 team members and 1 manager, with 1 week of historical data, 1 week of forward planning and a 3 week on-screen editor. It is a useful way to try basic scheduling and included timekeeping, but its small team cap and short planning window make it a poor fit for a larger or longer-range rota.

Starter costs 27.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 20 team members and 1 manager. It expands history to 1 year, forward planning to 3 months and the on-screen editor to 6 weeks. This is the entry paid plan for a small team that needs more planning room, but the single-manager limit remains restrictive for shared administration.

Business costs 43.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and raises the limits to 100 team members and 100 managers, with 5 years of history, 1 year of forward planning and a 20 week editor. It suits larger teams that need several managers and longer planning horizons. Enterprise costs 85.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 300 team members and 300 managers, 10 years of history, 3 years of forward planning and a 52 week editor.

The three-month trial includes full access for up to 300 employees and as many teams as needed, with no credit card required. Customer support runs Monday to Friday from 12am to 10pm GMT by email, live chat and WhatsApp on all plans; telephone support is listed for Enterprise. SMS has an additional cost on any plan.

Platforms

Findmyshift works on the web and offers Android and iOS apps for managers and employees. An API is also available for integrations. Browser access alongside mobile apps gives staff and managers more than one way to reach schedules and timekeeping.

Who it's for

Findmyshift describes its service for organizations of all sizes and names hospitality, healthcare, retail, education, charities and emergency services among its sectors. In practice, the Free and Starter limits are better matched to small teams; Business and Enterprise expand the employee, manager and planning ceilings for larger operations. Teams that need schedules generated automatically should choose a different tool.

Pros and cons

Pros: Time clocking and timesheets are included even on Free, so teams can record actual hours without upgrading for that capability.
Pros: Reports compare scheduled with actual hours and labor costs, which helps managers review staffing against the plan.
Pros: The three-month, no-card trial covers up to 300 employees and unlimited teams, giving larger organizations room to evaluate the service.
Cons: There is no auto-scheduling, leaving rota creation and adjustment in managers' hands.
Cons: Free is capped at 5 team members and 1 week of forward planning; the Starter plan still allows only 1 manager.
Cons: SMS notifications cost extra, and the API allows only one concurrent request per application or key.

Alternatives

Employee Scheduling Software is the broader category to consult when comparing scheduling tools. Consider Connecteam if you want another freemium option with Android, iOS, web and API platforms. 7shifts may suit teams of up to 15 employees at one location on its free Comp plan; its Essentials plan supports 30 employees and unlimited locations, with price not listed.

Shiftbase is an option if a free plan for up to 15 employees, one department and five teams fits; its Free plan is 0.00 EUR per month, billed monthly. Sling offers a free plan for up to 30 users, including scheduling, time-off requests and private messaging, making it worth considering for teams that need those capabilities at a higher free user limit.

Papershift is a paid alternative with a Core plan at 400.00 USD per month, billed per employee per month. Zoho Shifts may fit teams looking for a free plan for up to 25 users with basic scheduling, multiple locations, messaging and time-off requests. Homebase has paid task and tip management add-ons. PARiM is another freemium option, with a Starter plan shown from 47.00 GBP per month.

Verdict

Its broad plan range and long no-card trial make it practical to assess before committing. Look elsewhere if you need automatic scheduling, a larger free team allowance or SMS included in the plan price.
