In their own words

Firstory

Firstory is a podcast hosting platform for creators who want to publish, distribute, promote, and monetize shows. Uploading audio and video together in one go lets creators publish both formats, then distribute to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, KKBOX, and more than 10 platforms. Distribution is one-click for Spotify, KKBOX, and Pocket Casts; several other directories require manual distribution. AI Studio can create transcripts, summaries, highlights, newsletter drafts, questions and answers, keywords, and topic tags after upload. Analytics cover plays, audience profiles, and episode performance, combining RSS data with official Spotify data. Daily Spotify charts and listener and follower metrics are limited to Pro and higher. Promotion tools include FLink, a link for listening platforms and social profiles, an automatically built show website, and an embeddable player. Monetization options include dynamic ads, donations, recurring subscriptions, and cross-platform memberships. The free plan allows one show and one AI content extraction episode per month. Paid plans start at $7/mo, with a 14-day trial; annual billing saves 22%.

PodVault

PodVault hosts podcast audio, creates RSS feeds, and supports public and private distribution. Listeners can play episodes in its web player or use apps such as Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and Pocket Casts. Private feeds use unique links that can be revoked or replaced, but anyone with an active link can access the content. Creators can sell access through Stripe with one-time or recurring payments. Optional services include audio transcription and AI suggestions for episode titles and descriptions. Listener analytics are available, though PodVault says the feature is in beta and may be incomplete or change. PodVault describes use in courses, coaching programs, memberships, seminars, author programs, and ministry teaching. It offers a 14-day trial but no free plan. Creator costs $7.99 a month, billed $7.99 /month for 6 months; then $15.98 /month, with 1 podcast, 5 GB storage, and 5 hours/month show note transcription. Professional costs $12.99 a month, billed $12.99 /month for 6 months; then $25.98 /month, with 3 podcasts, 15 GB storage, and 20 hours/month show note transcription.
