In their own words
Flux CD
Flux CD is a free, open-source set of continuous and progressive delivery tools for Kubernetes. It uses GitOps to reconcile clusters with configuration from sources such as Git repositories, and manages Kubernetes resources along with infrastructure and workload dependencies. Integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, S3-compatible buckets, OCI, container registries, Helm, and Kustomize. With Flagger, it supports canary deployments, feature flags, and A/B rollouts; it can also scan container images and push automated updates back to Git. Flux can send alerts to external systems, including chat systems such as Slack. For multi-tenancy, it uses Kubernetes RBAC through impersonation and supports multiple repositories and clusters. Its CLI and controller images are signed, and controller deployments follow the Kubernetes restricted pod security standard. Flux does not provide its own UI, although third-party interfaces are available. Installation requires cluster-admin rights, and older end-of-life Kubernetes versions are unsupported; the listed minimum versions begin at v1.34.1 for v1.34.
GoCD
GoCD is an open-source server for continuous delivery and release automation. Its Value Stream Map follows changes from commit to deployment, showing upstream causes and downstream effects while allowing users to navigate jobs. Workflow models can coordinate dependencies and parallel execution, and traceability tools compare files and commit messages across builds. GoCD can pass a once-built binary through pipeline stages, run cross-platform tests in parallel, and report the changeset and platform where a test failure began. It supports delivery workflows for Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and other cloud environments; Kubernetes use can include dynamically scaled agents. Plugins connect external tools, with catalog options for Docker Registry, S3 artifacts, Kubernetes agents, and secrets managers. The project is self-hosted, free under the Apache License, Version 2.0, and offers packages for Windows, macOS, Debian, RPM, and ZIP, plus Docker and Kubernetes/Helm options. New installations do not require authentication. GoCD 26.1.0 requires Java 21 as its minimum supported version.
