| Deployment | Flyte 2 can run locally with a devbox or on a user's cluster; the site provides `pip install flyte` and `flyte start devbox` setup commands. | MLRun supports multi-cloud, hybrid and on-premises deployment options with built-in observability. |
| Integrations | The Flyte site lists integrations including Apache Spark, Ray, PyTorch Elastic, BigQuery, Snowflake, Weights & Biases, OpenAI Agents SDK, LangGraph, CrewAI, Pydantic AI, MLflow, Dask, and Databricks. | The ecosystem lists GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins and Kubeflow Pipelines for CI/CD integration. |
| Purpose | Flyte 2 is a durable AI runtime for workloads involving training, serving, and agents. | MLRun is an open-source AI orchestration framework for managing machine-learning and generative-AI applications across their lifecycles. |
| Security | Union.ai states that its data plane runs inside the customer's cloud and that workflow inputs, outputs, logs, code, and reports do not pass through its control plane. | Managed MLRun provides LDAP integration, user and group management, service authentication and authorization, and secured API-gateway authentication. |
| Support | The Team plan lists one business day Sev 1 support, while Enterprise lists custom white-glove support. | The open-source offering includes community support, while managed MLRun includes 24/7 enterprise support, service monitoring and log management. |

In their own words
Flyte
Flyte 2 is a durable runtime for AI workloads involving training, serving and agents. Users write workflows as plain Python async functions and use a TaskEnvironment to declare images, resources, secrets and retry policies. Flyte resumes from failed tasks and can recover from out-of-memory kills, preempted nodes and disappearing GPUs. Branches, loops and runtime decisions support dynamic workflows and agents. Native serving integrations include Streamlit, FastAPI, vLLM, SGLang and Ollama, with replicas able to scale to zero when idle. Listed integrations also cover Apache Spark, Ray, PyTorch Elastic, BigQuery, Snowflake, Weights & Biases, OpenAI Agents SDK, LangGraph, CrewAI, Pydantic AI, MLflow, Dask and Databricks. It runs locally with a devbox or on a customer cluster. Union.ai says customer-cloud data planes keep workflow inputs, outputs, logs, code and reports outside its control plane. Flyte is available as free Apache 2.0 open-source software.
MLRun
MLRun is an open-source framework for orchestrating machine-learning and generative-AI applications across their lifecycles. It automates data preparation, model tuning, customization, validation, and optimization for ML models and large language models over elastic resources. Its feature store can collect, transform, store, catalog, serve, and monitor data features. MLRun supports multi-cloud, hybrid, and on-premises deployments with built-in observability; documented options include Kubernetes, AWS, Azure AKS, and Iguazio’s managed service. The ecosystem includes storage and data systems such as S3, Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Snowflake, Kafka, Spark, and Dask, alongside PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, and ONNX. CI/CD integrations include GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, and Kubeflow Pipelines. MLRun also lists model registry, experiment tracking, pipeline orchestration, model serving, data versioning, and managed compute. The open-source plan costs nothing and includes community support. Managed MLRun includes LDAP integration, user and group management, service authentication and authorization, secured API-gateway authentication, service monitoring, log management, and 24/7 enterprise support.
