In their own words
FocusMe
FocusMe blocks websites and apps to help users manage distractions across desktop and mobile devices. Blocking can target websites, apps, keywords, or categories across more than 15 browsers, or use Whitelist Mode to allow only selected items. Focus plans can set daily or hourly budgets, limit launches, enforce breaks, and schedule sessions; sessions can also be locked. Protection options include password protection, random challenges, Enforced Mode, and accountability partners. Its AI Coach analyzes progress and offers insights and actions. The Android and iOS apps are free to download and include blocking, schedules, and time limits. Premium syncs plans between Windows, Mac, and iPhone; Android sync is in development. Chrome and Firefox extensions offer enhanced URL detection and faster blocking, and an Edge extension is listed. FocusMe has a free plan and a 14-day trial, with paid plans from $9.95/mo; its lifetime option costs $249, paid once. A license covers up to five Windows or macOS computers and two mobile devices.
YourHour
YourHour tracks screen use and offers app-blocking tools for people building healthier digital habits. Its dashboard shows time spent, unlock counts, top apps, and daily trends, with daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Blocking features target Reels and endless scrolling; the Android listing names Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels. Mindful Pause can put a breathing exercise or reflection prompt before selected apps open. YourHour also supports Android TV, where users can set limits, review usage, and remotely lock TV apps from a phone; parents can approve temporary extensions of 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 1 hour. Core tracking can work offline. Device usage data is processed locally, though some features may request a name, email, date of birth, and country. On Android, Reel Blocker and Focus use AccessibilityService, with that data processed locally. The free download contains ads and in-app purchases. Pro costs $1.99 a month or $12.99 a year; PDF and XLSX report exports are Premium features. iPhone requires iOS 18.0 or later.
