In their own words

ForgeGradle

ForgeGradle is a free Gradle plugin and Minecraft mod development framework used with Forge and FML. Its documentation focuses on setting up a mod development environment, not teaching Java, Groovy or Gradle. Setup requires a Java Development Kit and familiarity with an integrated development environment. The guide provides commands to generate run configurations for Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA and Visual Studio Code. Configurations can specify arguments, working directories, task names, environment properties and system properties; Forge supplies client, server, data and gameTestServer run types. Developers can select human-readable mappings and use a reobf task to convert a mod JAR to SRG mappings for production. Dependencies can be sourced from repositories or a local flat directory and wrapped with fg.deobf. An optional Jar-in-Jar system bundles selected dependencies and records metadata during the build. The documentation covers Minecraft versions 1.12 through 1.19, plus 1.19.4. Its default stable and snapshot mappings are typically incomplete and are no longer available as of Minecraft 1.17. The repository identifies the license as LGPL-2.1.

Minecraft Development MCP Server

Minecraft Development MCP Server gives AI assistants and development tools ways to inspect Minecraft Java source and mods. It can download, decompile and remap versions on first use, then cache the results for searching and analysis. Its 21 tools cover source code, mappings and registry data, validation, and mod analysis. Developers can validate Mixin code and loader-specific access rules, inspect mod JAR metadata and dependencies, and compare versions at class and AST levels to identify changes. Mapping namespaces include Yarn, Mojmap, Intermediary and obfuscated names. Yarn is available for Minecraft 1.14–1.21.11; versions 26.1 and later support Mojmap, while Yarn is unavailable. Setup is documented for Claude Desktop and Claude Code, with HTTP transport and a standalone CLI also available. Installation options include global npm, npx or a source build. It is free and MIT-licensed, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux/WSL. Node.js 18 or newer is required, and Java 17 or newer is needed for decompilation and remapping. Its local cache uses about 400–500 MB per Minecraft version.
