In their own words
Frame0
Frame0 is desktop wireframing software for making low-fidelity, sketch-style wireframes and prototypes. Its component library covers desktop, mobile, smartwatch, and web interfaces, with adjustable component states, and it includes more than 1,500 Lucide-based sketch-style icons. Shapes can link to pages, external URLs, or navigation actions; prototypes can be presented and exported as interactive HTML or PDF files. The app also supports flowcharts, entity-relationship diagrams, and UML use case and class diagrams. Frame0 runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Its free plan has no time or size limit and includes all non-premium features, built-in shapes, and icons. Paid plans are listed monthly, with VAT excluded: Solo is 99.00 USD for one device, Duo is 159.00 USD for two devices, and Team is 79.00 USD for three or more devices. A purchased license is perpetual, but major-version upgrades may cost extra. Exported PDFs may omit characters unavailable in the selected font.
Pencil Project
Pencil Project is a free, open-source desktop tool for creating GUI mockups, wireframes, and diagrams. Built-in stencil collections cover desktop, web, Android, and iOS interfaces; connectors and flowchart shapes support diagramming. Elements can link to pages in the same document, and those links become hyperlinks in web exports. Drawings can be exported as PNG files, web pages, OpenOffice or LibreOffice text documents, Inkscape SVG, or Adobe PDF. A clipart browser connected to OpenClipart.org lets users add vector clipart by dragging it into a project. Stencil collections and export templates can be installed as add-ons. Pencil runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, with downloads for Fedora and Ubuntu, other GNU/Linux distributions, Windows, and macOS. The macOS DMG supports Intel and Apple Silicon. Pencil is published under GNU General Public License version 2; Evolus also describes a commercial source-code license. The site identifies version 3.1.1 as the latest stable release and warns that nightly development builds are unstable. It provides a SHA-1 checksum link for download verification and invites donations to support development.
