Overview

Freshsales is a sales CRM from Freshworks for teams that need to manage leads, customer conversations, and deals together. It is best suited to small and growing sales teams that want built-in communication and automation; the free plan’s three-user cap and higher prices for advanced controls are important constraints.

Its central strength is connecting lead and pipeline work with email, phone, and chat, while Freddy AI helps surface leads and deal insights. Teams that need more than three free seats or advanced permissions should compare the paid tiers before settling on it.

Key features

Leads, contacts, and pipeline

Freshsales covers lead capture, qualification, routing, tracking, scoring, and capture forms. A 360-degree contact view follows people through the buying journey, while customizable pipeline stages and kanban boards let reps move deals with drag-and-drop cards. Forecasting and AI-powered closing recommendations add guidance to deal management. This is a coherent setup for teams that want prospect context and pipeline work in one CRM; contact scoring, deal insights, custom sales activities, and territory management require Pro.

Communication and automation

Built-in email, phone, and chat keep customer conversations close to sales records, with integrations including Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp Business. Email sync, templates, customer journeys, task management, auto-assignment rules, sales sequences, workflows, and internal notifications support follow-up and coordination. Growth includes basic workflows, a useful starting point for reducing repetitive tasks, while sales sequences are a Pro feature.

Freddy AI and mobile

Freddy AI highlights leads and deals, provides insights, and can write emails. Paid plans include 500 chatbot sessions once per account; each session lasts up to 24 hours and its validity follows the payment cycle. That allowance is finite, so teams planning sustained chatbot use should account for it. The iOS and Android app supports offline mode, Google Maps synchronization, check-ins, voice notes, and Gmail and Outlook add-ons, making it more capable than a pipeline-only mobile companion.

Freshsales also connects to more than 100 apps through the Freshworks Marketplace and offers APIs for custom integrations. Freshworks cites ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, SOC 3, SOC 2 Type 2, and other compliance materials; its servers are hosted in a data center with 24-hour surveillance and current security patches.

Pricing

Freshsales has a free plan, paid plans starting at $9 per user per month billed annually, and a 21-day trial of the fully loaded CRM. Accounts are suspended if users do not continue after the trial. Cards accepted include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
Free	0.00 USD per free	Up to 3 users; 100 contacts	Very small teams assessing a basic CRM footprint.
Growth	9.00 USD per month, billed annually	Kanban view, contact lifecycle stages, chat, email, phone, email templates, custom fields, and basic workflows	Startups and SMBs that need core pipeline and communication tools.
Pro	39.00 USD per month, billed annually	Contact scoring, deal insights, custom sales activities, territory management, and sales sequences	Growing and mid-sized businesses needing richer deal controls and structured outreach.
Enterprise	59.00 USD per month, billed annually	Forecasting insights, field-level permissions, custom modules, sandbox, and audit logs	Mid to large-sized businesses that need stronger governance and customization.

The free plan’s three-user limit makes it a narrow fit for teams beyond a small core, and Growth is the practical entry point for a larger team. Growth covers essential pipeline work but gives up Pro’s scoring, territory management, and sequences; Enterprise adds governance tools at a substantial step up from Pro. A 21-day trial offers the full CRM, but continuation requires choosing a plan, and accounts are suspended if users do not continue.

Platforms

Freshsales supports web, iOS, Android, APIs, and extensions. Its mobile apps include offline access and location-linked tools such as Google Maps synchronization and check-ins.

Who it's for

Freshsales fits sales teams that want lead handling, conversations, pipeline tracking, and routine automation under one roof, especially startups and SMBs starting with Growth. The free tier can serve a team of up to three users, but teams with larger seat needs or a requirement for territory controls, field-level permissions, or audit logs should budget for higher tiers. It is less compelling for buyers seeking to keep advanced sales operations on the lowest-cost plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Chat, email, and phone sit alongside lead and deal management, reducing the need to separate conversations from pipeline work.
Pros: Growth includes kanban pipeline management and basic workflows, providing a functional starting point for smaller teams.
Pros: Mobile offline mode, check-ins, voice notes, and Google Maps synchronization support work away from a desktop.
Cons: The free plan stops at three users, limiting its usefulness once a team grows beyond a small group.
Cons: Contact scoring, territory management, and sales sequences begin at Pro, while field-level permissions and audit logs require Enterprise.
Cons: The included 500 chatbot sessions are once per account, not a recurring per-seat allowance.

Alternatives

Freshsales belongs in the broader CRM Software category, alongside more specialized options such as Insurance CRM Software, Manufacturing CRM Software, and Professional Services CRM Software. Those category choices are useful starting points when a buyer’s CRM needs are industry-specific.

For conversion-focused work rather than sales CRM, Personyze, Zoho PageSense, ConvertFlow, FigPii, Webflow CMS, Omniconvert Explore, Kameleoon, and Unbounce are alternatives to consider; their supplied descriptions do not establish a direct Freshsales comparison.

Verdict

Choose Freshsales if your sales team wants leads, customer conversations, and a visual pipeline connected to practical automation and AI assistance. Growth is the sensible starting plan for many small businesses, while the three-user free cap and the move to Pro or Enterprise for advanced controls are the main reasons to look elsewhere or plan for higher spend.
