In their own words
FTP Commander
FTP Commander is file transfer software with free and paid Windows editions. The free download covers basic uploads and downloads, file and folder management, multiple downloads, and command-line mode. Pro adds directory synchronization, interrupted-transfer resumption, and remote file management; it costs $49.95, paid once, and a 30-day trial is available. Deluxe costs $99.95, paid once and adds FTPS and SFTP over SSH, PGP encryption, scheduled transfers and tasks, backups, directory synchronization, and remote file editing. Deluxe also has a 30-day trial. The software can synchronize local files and folders with an FTP server, and multithreading allows simultaneous transfers. It supports SSL, TLS, SSH, PGP, and password encryption; data traffic is encrypted to protect identities and passwords. Pro includes automatic connection retries and has a listed download size of 700kb. The site also lists free Android mobile apps for CCTV software, while FTP Commander Pro is designed for Windows. The maker is FTP Commander, founded in 1997.
lftp
lftp is a free command-line file transfer program for Linux, with support for FTP, HTTP, FISH, SFTP, HTTPS, FTPS and BitTorrent. It can synchronize files, automate transfers and run queued jobs at set times. Its mirror command downloads or updates a directory tree; reverse mirror does the same by uploading to a server. Multiple files can transfer in parallel, and pget can use multiple connections for one download. lftp retries operations after non-fatal errors and can resume downloads from where they stopped. Unfinished jobs can continue in the background after you exit the program or close an xterm. FTPS and HTTPS rely on GNU TLS or OpenSSL, depending on how lftp was built. Downloads include source archives and Fedora RPM binaries. Release information differs across the project pages: the homepage lists 4.9.3, released on 2024-11-08, while the download page calls 4.9.2 the latest stable version. The author says they have little time to support lftp; the project lists two mailing lists.
