In their own words

ftrack Studio

ftrack Studio is a platform for shot management, production tracking, scheduling, and media review. Its cloud-based interface supports team management, planning thousands of shots, and creating reports. Teams can map milestones and task dates on timelines and schedule people with a calendar. Configurable views, dashboards, kanban boards, time tracking, comments, and to-do notes support production tracking. For review, users can examine dailies, sketch ideas, and share real-time feedback with colleagues or clients. Publishing an asset with a name already in use creates a new version, and media can be converted to HTML5 video for internal review. Integrations include creative applications such as Foundry Nuke, Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Autodesk Maya, and Cinema 4D. The API supports Python, JavaScript, and cURL. Studio includes 250GB of storage for review media, thumbnails, and metadata. The Studio plan costs $30 a month, billed monthly, with the first 14 days free; no free plan is listed.

Kitsu

Kitsu is a collaboration and production-tracking platform for animation, VFX, and game studios. Teams can schedule tasks, assign work to artists, balance workloads, and follow production progress through dashboards and an activity feed for subscribed tasks. Its review tools arrange shots and assets into playlists and keep preview versions available for comparison. Kitsu also tracks asset versions, related tasks, and progress, with a library for reusing assets. Budget forecasting and artist time tracking cover assets and shots. Access options include web, Linux, API, and self-hosting. The REST API has Python and JavaScript tools and a command-line interface; listed integrations include Blender, Toon Boom Harmony, Unreal Engine, Slack, Discord, and Mattermost. The self-hosted AGPL edition requires customers to manage infrastructure, backups, monitoring, security, and upgrades. Paid cloud plans start at €20/user/mo (annual), and the 14-day trial includes all features and unlimited users, but uses low-end hardware unless a stronger setup is arranged.
