Overview

SignUpGenius is a group-organizing service for coordinating sign-ups, events, fundraisers and collections. It is best suited to schools, nonprofits, businesses and community organizers who need participants to claim places through a shared link and receive follow-up messages. Scheduling, reminders and reporting sit together, but payment collection is restricted to U.S.-based users with U.S. bank accounts.

Key features

A guided creation wizard, hundreds of themes, recurring events, custom questions and tabbed sign-ups give organizers room to shape sign-ups for different activities. Duplicating or transferring an earlier sign-up can cut repeat setup work. Participants can respond through a shared link without an account, reducing friction; organizers who need tighter control can require accounts, use an access code or limit sign-ups to approved email addresses.

Automatic email and text reminders, scheduled invitations, confirmations and follow-up messages handle routine coordination. Targeted group messages give organizers another way to reach participants. Volunteer-hours reports, Excel exports, payment reports and email delivery and click-through metrics help track participation and outreach. Zapier connects sign-up data to web apps, and calendar syncing helps participants keep events on their schedules.

Payment pages accept credit cards and digital wallets with a 3.95% plus $0.95 convenience fee, or eChecks at 1.95% with a $1 minimum. The fees make payment collection a meaningful cost to weigh, particularly for repeated transactions; the U.S. eligibility limit rules out groups with accounts outside that market. The main service runs in a phone browser without an app, while a companion payment app supports iOS and Android.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited sign-ups. That is a practical starting point for organizers who need to coordinate many activities without paying for the sign-up capacity itself. A 10-day trial is also offered, though no trial-specific terms are given.

Silver, Gold, Platinum and Enterprise have custom pricing. Silver provides one ad-free sign-up and two custom questions, making it a narrow fit for organizers who chiefly want to remove ads or tailor a single form. Gold adds 10 administrators; Platinum allows 20, a distinction that matters to teams sharing management duties. Enterprise adds embedded sign-ups, portal pages, dedicated account management and customized limits, better suited to organizations needing a more tailored setup. Paid plans include API access, with daily limits of 500, 2,000 or 5,000 requests by plan, and a customized Enterprise allowance.

Platforms

SignUpGenius supports web, Android, iOS and API access. Its browser-based main service means a dedicated app is not required for phone use; the payment companion app is available for iOS and Android. API access is limited by plan, so teams building integrations should match their expected daily usage to the relevant allowance.

Who it's for

Volunteer self-sign-up, shift scheduling, custom forms and advanced volunteer reporting make SignUpGenius a strong fit for organizers who need to fill roles, collect participant details and track service hours. Schools, nonprofits, businesses and community groups can use the same workflow, from a simple shared sign-up to recurring activities with reminders. It is less suitable when organizers need payment processing outside the U.S. or expect fees to be negligible.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited sign-ups on the free plan let organizers coordinate many events without a sign-up quota.
Pro: Participants can claim places without an account, while access controls remain available for groups that need them.
Pro: Reminders, volunteer reports and payment and email metrics bring follow-up and reporting into the same workflow.
Con: Payment collection is limited to U.S.-based users with U.S. bank accounts, and transaction fees apply.
Con: Silver through Platinum require custom pricing, so teams cannot compare their costs from the plan prices alone.
