Game Developer Studio
Game Developer Studio combines a library of hand-drawn 2D game assets with GDS Editor, a browser-based tool for editing, compositing, and creating assets. Its store lists 1,292 packs, including characters, animals, weapons, backgrounds, tilesets, effects, vehicles, and interface elements. The assets include source files and use a royalty-free license. The standard license allows personal and commercial derivative projects without attribution, but does not allow standalone redistribution. GDS Editor Core costs nothing and runs in a desktop browser without installation, login, or server-side processing. It imports GDS, SVG, PNG, JPEG, and JPG files, and includes lossless scaling, color and outline adjustments, spritesheet playback, a personal asset stash, and several slicing tools. The texture panel and library are limited to GDS Plus supporters; the Supporter Club is temporarily closed while it is restructured. The maker says its art is made by hand, not AI-generated. The editor works on most browsers, though recent Brave versions may conflict.
Godot Asset Library
Godot Asset Library is a free repository for finding community-submitted addons, scripts, tools, and other resources for Godot. Users can browse on the official website or download assets directly from within Godot. Templates, projects, and demos are standalone projects, while other asset types are intended to be added to an existing project. The web library offers filters for category, support level, engine version, and license, with sorting by license, name, or update date. Its labels distinguish hand-picked Featured assets from community-maintained submissions and Testing assets, which may contain bugs and are not recommended for serious projects. Browsing and downloads do not require an account, but uploading requires a registered account and sign-in. Asset entries point to third-party repositories rather than hosting files in the library. Each entry can cover only one Godot engine version, and editor downloads are limited to the version currently running. Changing web search settings requires submitting the search again. All assets are distributed free; paid assets cannot be uploaded.
