In their own words
Game Extractor
Game Extractor is a Windows application for opening game archive files, viewing their contents, and extracting files to a PC. Its site says it supports archives from over 5,700 games across PC, mobile, and console platforms, including titles using Unity 3D, Unreal Engine, and Value Source Engines. The free Basic Version reads archives and extracts files. The one-time Full Version adds archive editing and saving, previews for many image, audio, and 3D mesh files, image and mesh conversion, and a format scanner for locating images and audio in unknown or unsupported archives. Supported formats include game containers, common archive and data files, and image and audio types. Optional FFmpeg and Java Media Framework integrations can extend preview support. Every version requires Java Runtime Environment 8 in its 32-bit form; the site says it comes with the application. Downloads are linked through GitHub and SourceForge. Tutorials are available as PDFs and videos, alongside in-program help. The site cautions that some supported games use archives its plugin cannot open, and edited archives are not guaranteed to work in games.
OpenKh
OpenKH brings together technical documentation, tools, code libraries, and modding support for the Kingdom Hearts series. Its documentation covers games and remasters, shared assets, tools, and the OpenKH Game Engine. The Mod Manager installs and manages mods for supported PC ports and PS2 versions of several games. Mods can come from GitHub repositories or archive files, and collections can group assets for multiple titles. Panacea lets users switch mods on and off without overwriting original game files. The guide lists Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Re:Chain of Memories, Birth by Sleep, and Dream Drop Distance as legacy-class games, and says PC releases from Epic Games Store and Steam are supported. OpenKH also includes an Image Viewer for common and Kingdom Hearts-specific formats, including IMD, IMZ, and Birth by Sleep font ARC files; it exports images, while import functions are in development. The engine has basic Kingdom Hearts II support on Windows, Linux, and macOS, including Raspberry Pi. Tools require the.NET 8.0 Runtime. The engine requires the user's original Kingdom Hearts II PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 4 copy. OpenKH is free; the listed plan is free.
