GameEx vs Nexon Launcher

GameEx is an arcade and emulator front end for MAME, GameBase, Daphne, PC games and command-line emulators, with HTPC features. The site lists original GameEx, GameEx Arcade Edition and GameEx Evolution. Its feature list describes support for nearly any emulator, with advanced MAME support, and compatibility with arcade controls such as X-Arcade, Slik-Stik, JPAC and IPAC, as well as remotes and gamepads. Media features include video and DVD playback, picture viewing, internet radio, a jukebox, a news reader and a YouTube module. Named integrations include Steam, EA Origin, Uplay, iTunes, Windows Media Player, GameBase, GameEx Arcade and the TMDb API. GameEx Online and GameExtender add networked display, remote control and online game statistics. Its listed free plan costs nothing, but commercial use requires each copy to be registered or purchased. The listing includes Android, Linux, macOS and Windows; the maker describes Linux or Mac use through WINE as experimental, while the multiplatform alpha builds may lack features.

Nexon Launcher is a free desktop application for downloading and playing Nexon games. It brings Nexon games together in one global launcher and is available for Windows and macOS. Users must sign in to a Nexon account to download a game. Nexon’s Windows guide directs users to download and run NexonLauncherSetup.exe; its macOS instructions say MapleStory.pkg installs the Launcher. Game clients can update in the background and patch to the latest version when needed. A Repair Installation option checks game files and downloads or updates missing or damaged files. Players can link Steam and Nexon accounts so a Steam launch automatically signs in to the linked Nexon account. Nexon support addresses antivirus false positives involving the Launcher or Nexon Game Security, including exclusion and firewall guidance. Support tickets about these issues should include the antivirus name, troubleshooting summary and an error screenshot. Nexon was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in El Segundo, California, United States.
