Overview

Roadtrippers brings route planning, place discovery, booking and navigation together on the web and in mobile apps. The planner estimates fuel costs and finds places within a chosen distance of a route, making it useful for travelers who want to build in stops. Autopilot adds recommendations drawn from traveler insights, but leaves users in control of whether to accept them.

The location database covers millions of places across the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. That geographic reach supports exploratory trips in those regions, though RV GPS features are available only in the United States. Roadtrippers was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Cincinnati and Chicago.

Key features

Invited friends can collaborate on a trip in real time. Reservation import and shared itineraries make it easier to keep trip plans together, while offline access can help when connectivity is unavailable. Saved plans sync with the iOS and Android apps, so a trip created on the web can travel with its planner.

Campground search includes more than 50,000 campgrounds, with filters and reviews, plus booking for thousands of sites. That makes it a useful part of planning for campers, although the booking coverage is narrower than the overall campground directory.

RV routing accounts for vehicle dimensions, weight and propane status to avoid unsuitable roads and hazards. That is a meaningful distinction for RV drivers, but its U.S.-only availability rules it out as a dependable RV GPS option elsewhere. The RV GPS page also states support for Apple CarPlay voice directions.

The support center offers guides, FAQs, troubleshooting articles and a contact request option. Roadpass Digital's privacy policy describes safeguards against unauthorized access and contractual limits on service-provider processing; collected data may include identity, contact, payment, technical, location, profile and usage information.

Pricing

Roadtrippers has a free plan and three paid monthly plans. The central trade-off is itinerary capacity: each tier sets both a saved-trip allowance and a per-trip stop cap.

Plan	Price	Saved trips	Stops per trip
Free	Free (billed $0/yr)	1	3
Basic	11.99 USD per month (billed $11.99/mo)	3	20
Pro	16.99 USD per month (billed $16.99/mo)	5	50
Premium	19.99 USD per month (billed $19.99/mo)	Unlimited	150

Free is suitable for trying a compact route, but one saved trip and three stops leave little room for an ongoing or detailed itinerary. Basic gives occasional planners three trips and 20 stops apiece; Pro raises that to five trips and 50 stops for travelers who need more room. Premium removes the saved-trip ceiling, but still caps each trip at 150 stops.

Eligible users who have not used a trial may receive a one-time 7-day trial with an annual plan. Monthly plans have no trial and are billed immediately, so the monthly price is not preceded by a trial period.

Platforms

Roadtrippers runs on the web, Android and iOS, with web as its primary platform. The mobile apps sync saved plans, and offline access is supported. RV GPS availability is narrower than the app platform coverage: it is limited to the United States.

Who it's for

Choose Roadtrippers if discovering stops along a route, coordinating an itinerary, or finding campgrounds is part of the trip rather than an afterthought. It is particularly relevant to U.S. RV travelers who can use dimension-aware routing and CarPlay voice directions. It is a weaker fit for people who need more than 150 stops in one trip, or RV GPS outside the United States.

Pros and cons

Pros: Route-distance discovery and Autopilot recommendations support exploratory planning while keeping stop choices with the user.
Pros: Real-time collaboration, reservation import, synced mobile plans and offline access cover several practical parts of shared trip planning.
Pros: Campground search combines a large directory with reviews, filters and booking for thousands of sites.
Cons: The free plan's one-trip, three-stop limits are restrictive for multi-stop travel.
Cons: Even Premium caps trips at 150 stops, and RV GPS features do not extend beyond the United States.

Alternatives

For a no-cost, GPL-3.0-or-later option spanning Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web and Windows, consider Pappus Travel Planner; its free-software plan states no warranty. TripIt is another freemium choice across Android, iOS, macOS and web: its free plan allows three document uploads per trip, while TripIt Pro costs 49.00 USD per year and allows 25.

TripCraftr, tabiori, TravelerBuddy, TripMapper, Jettova and Lambus are also alternatives for comparing travel-planning tools.

Browse the broader Travel Itinerary Apps category if Roadtrippers' route-and-stop emphasis is not the right match.

Verdict

Roadtrippers is a strong choice for travelers who want to discover places along a route, plan with companions and, in the United States, use RV-aware GPS or campground search. Its main reason to choose it is the combination of those road-trip-specific tools; look elsewhere if the free tier's small itinerary allowance or Premium's 150-stop ceiling will constrain your plans, or if you need RV GPS outside the U.S.
