Overview

Genie AI is a business-focused legal platform for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements. It suits teams that need playbook-led review as well as contract creation; its strongest case is bringing those tasks and document analysis into a single workflow.

Users can draft from a plain-English brief or a template, then review agreements against playbooks and apply edits as tracked changes. Genie also extracts and compares document data, although the number of documents covered depends on the plan.

Key features

Drafting starts either with a plain-English instruction or a template. The Free plan includes more than 500 templates, a useful starting point for occasional work, but its AI tokens are capped. Review tools check contracts against playbooks, compare clauses, and suggest redlines in tracked changes. That combination is valuable for teams with established review standards; it is less compelling if the need is only a basic drafting tool.

Document insights extract, compare, and monitor data points across documents in a table view. This turns a collection of agreements into something teams can examine together, but the plan limits matter: Pro covers insights from 50 documents and Business from 250. Supported files include DOCX, PDF, images, and spreadsheets.

Genie lists MCP connectors, API access, and native integrations with email, CRM, cloud storage, and eSign. Its Microsoft Word add-in works with Word on Windows, Mac, and the web. The platform supports 10 languages.

GenieAI says it is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, encrypts customer data at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher, and does not use customer content to train AI models. It says customer documents are hosted in UK and EU AWS data centres and that it complies with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018. It does not hold a SOC 2 report, which may matter to organizations whose vendor requirements call for one.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and provides the full AI document toolkit, one user, free-plan AI tokens, and 500+ templates. It is a practical way for a solo user to try template-based work, but the token allowance is limited and the plan does not include a stated document-insights quota.

Pro costs 59.00 USD per year, billed $708/year at $59 per month annually, or $75 per month with cancellation any time. It gives one user, insights from 50 documents, 10x Free plan AI tokens, and unlimited document exports. The larger token allowance and insight quota suit an individual handling regular contracts, though it remains a one-user plan.

Business costs 259.00 USD per year, billed $3,108/year at $259 per month annually, or $320 per month with cancellation any time. It covers five users, insights from 250 documents, and 5x Pro plan tokens. The additional seats and document capacity make it the more relevant tier for a small team; the annual commitment is substantial, while the monthly option costs more but can be cancelled any time.

Enterprise has custom pricing, billed annually. It includes unlimited users, insights from unlimited documents, unlimited AI tokens, API and MCP integrations, a dedicated Customer Success manager, onboarding, a bespoke AI training program, ROI reporting, and SLA technical support. It is the tier for organizations that need those support and scale provisions rather than a fixed seat or document allowance.

Platforms

Genie is available as an extension, on macOS, on Windows, and on the web. The Word add-in works with Word on Windows, Mac, and the web.

Who it's for

Genie is aimed at businesses, with solutions for in-house legal, procurement, sales, founders, and other business teams. It is a strong fit where people need repeatable playbook review, redlining, and analysis across a set of documents. A solo user can start on Free or choose Pro, while teams needing several seats and broader document analysis should consider Business. Organizations requiring unlimited scale and dedicated support should look at Enterprise.

Pros and cons

Pros: Drafting, playbook review, tracked redlines, and document comparison sit in one legal platform, covering more of the contract workflow than drafting alone.
Pros: The Free plan includes 500+ templates, and paid plans state their user and document-insights allowances.
Pros: UK and EU hosting, stated encryption protections, and a commitment not to train on customer content address important data-handling concerns.
Cons: Pro is limited to one user and insights from 50 documents; Business raises those limits to five users and 250 documents, so growing teams may need Enterprise.
Cons: GenieAI does not hold a SOC 2 report, which may rule it out for buyers with that requirement.
Cons: Business costs 259.00 USD per year on annual billing, or $320 per month with cancellation any time, a meaningful price step from Pro.

Alternatives

AI Contract Review Software is the broader comparison for buyers focused on contract review; AI Contract Generators is the relevant list for those prioritizing contract creation.

Choose Legartis if a free plan with one seat, two NDA reviews per month, and a German, English, and French NDA playbook is a better starting point. LeCHECK is another paid alternative with a free trial. Consider ThoughtRiver if its Starter plan for individuals at 6.00 USD per month and its task-management, collaboration, dashboard, and analytics features suit the need. Definely is a paid alternative with a free trial and macOS and Windows support.

Robin AI is another paid option with a free plan and trial. Choose Spellbook if a Word add-in and team-based custom pricing are a better fit. LegalSifter may suit buyers who prefer consumption-based pricing: its Consumption Basic plan is 2750.00 USD per year for 50 contracts, with $55 per additional contract and unlimited seats. GC AI is another paid alternative with a free trial.

Verdict

Genie AI is best for business teams that want drafting, playbook-based contract review, tracked edits, and document insights together. Its stated security protections and clear seat and document limits help buyers assess fit, but the paid tiers constrain team size and analysis volume until Enterprise. Choose it when those integrated workflows matter; look elsewhere if SOC 2 is mandatory or the annual Business price and caps do not fit.
