Overview

GENOME’s CODEX engine loads Neural Amp Modeler (NAM), AIDA-X and Proteus captures in one workflow, alongside more than 40 premium AI amp captures included with the product. That breadth makes it a useful fit for players who want to work with captures from different sources rather than build around a single format.

It runs either as a standalone app or a plugin, and supports series and parallel routing, up to 12 components per lane and expansion to two lanes. Those options give players room to create more involved signal paths; they may be unnecessary for anyone looking only for a simple amp-and-cab setup. A Two notes account is required.

Key features

Amps, cabinets and effects

The GENOME plan includes 24 amps, 49 pedals, 16 DynIR cabinets and 16 Studio FX. The product also specifies 65 effects and an IR loader. This is a broad core toolkit, but the plan excludes FairTone and Artist Series premium components, so buyers seeking those collections will need to account for that limitation.

Routing and control

Parameter automation, MIDI mapping and MIDI Learn support control from an external MIDI device as well as within a session. Captor, Captor X, OPUS and ReVolt hardware are compatible. These are meaningful advantages for players integrating GENOME into a controlled live or studio rig, rather than relying solely on mouse-operated settings.

DAW integration

GENOME is available in VST3, AU and AAX formats, and Two notes lists Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One and Reaper as tested DAWs. Standalone use also suits players who do not want to open a recording session just to use the software.

Pricing

GENOME Intro is free and includes 4 TSM-Ai amplifiers, 14 pedals, 5 DynIR cabinets and 4 Studio FX. It offers a no-cost way to try the workflow, but its smaller collection is a clear constraint for players who want the paid plan’s broader set.

GENOME costs 89.99 USD per once. It includes 24 amps, 49 pedals, 16 DynIR cabinets and 16 Studio FX, while excluding FairTone and Artist Series components. For players who expect to use the expanded collection, the one-time price avoids a recurring subscription; those who need the excluded premium components should not assume this license includes them.

The maker also offers a 14-day free trial license for GENOME and its components. The desktop license does not include GENOME iOS: an iOS Access Pass is required for iOS use.

Platforms

The download page offers GENOME 2.1 for macOS 10.15 or newer, Windows 64-bit and iPad running iOS 12 or newer. Desktop users can choose standalone or VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats. iPad access is a separate purchase requirement, so the desktop license alone is not a cross-platform license.

Who it's for

GENOME suits guitarists and bassists who want capture compatibility, a sizable amp-and-effects collection, and routing options that extend beyond a basic linear chain. MIDI control and compatibility with listed Two notes hardware add value for players building it into a broader setup. It is less suitable for buyers who need the FairTone or Artist Series components in the quoted license, or who expect iPad access to come with the desktop purchase.

Pros and cons

Pros: Loads NAM, AIDA-X and Proteus captures in one workflow, giving players flexibility across capture sources.
Pros: Series and parallel routing, dual-lane expansion and up to 12 components per lane allow more elaborate signal paths.
Pros: The paid plan combines 24 amps, 49 pedals, 16 cabinets and 16 Studio FX for a broad core collection.
Cons: FairTone and Artist Series premium components are excluded from the GENOME plan.
Cons: GENOME iOS requires a separate Access Pass, so the desktop license does not cover iPad use.
Cons: A Two notes account is required to use the software.

Alternatives

For a wider comparison, browse Guitar Amp Software.

Amped is another freemium option for macOS and Windows, with a free Roots plan built around one amp. It may suit players who want to start with a single amp rather than GENOME’s multi-part free collection.

Helix Stadium Native has a free Intro plan with five Agoura amps, five cabs and 15 studio effects, and runs on macOS and Windows. Consider it if that free collection better matches the amp-and-cab setup you need.

Neural Amp Modeler is a free, open-source project for Linux, macOS, web and Windows. Choose it if open-source access and broader platform availability matter more than GENOME’s integrated amp, cabinet and effects collection.

Amp Locker offers a free download on Linux, macOS and Windows, with extra modules purchased individually and owned outright. Its modular purchasing may suit players who prefer to add only the modules they want.

IK Multimedia ReSing is a freemium macOS and Windows product with a free plan limited to two voices, two instruments and one RVC import. It is a different kind of software, so consider it for voice and instrument resynthesis rather than guitar amp modeling.

TH-U is a paid alternative with a free trial and support for iOS, macOS and Windows. It may be a better fit if you want an option that covers those platforms.

AIDA-X is free and supports Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web and Windows environments. It is worth considering if free access and broad platform coverage are priorities.

Amplifikation 360 is a freemium option for macOS and Windows. Consider it if you want to compare another amp-software approach.

Verdict

Choose GENOME if you want a flexible guitar-and-bass environment that combines compatible captures, a substantial amp and effects collection, and detailed routing and MIDI control. Its 14-day trial and free Intro plan make it possible to assess the workflow before paying. Look elsewhere if your decision depends on FairTone or Artist Series components being included, or if you need iPad access within the desktop license.
