Overview

Getcontact is a caller-identification and spam-screening service built around shared reports about unwanted numbers. It is best suited to people who want community-powered context for unfamiliar calls and are comfortable managing profile visibility and contact permissions. Its strongest case is the combination of automatic protection and number lookup; its paid tiers require careful matching to search and tag-view quotas.

Key features

Caller ID identifies numbers that are not saved in a user’s contacts, while Spam Protection can automatically guard against robocalls, telemarketers and scam calls. Users can also report unwanted calls, adding shared signals that help other Getcontact users assess a number. That community approach is useful when a number has already attracted reports, but it depends on users contributing them.

The free lookup page also draws on community search and report data to identify callers and flag spam. Premium adds ad-free use, information about who viewed a user’s tags and queried their number, private mode, a Premium badge and three-month phone-number search statistics. These additions are aimed at people who use Getcontact’s tags and lookup functions; they are less persuasive for someone who only wants basic call screening.

Getcontact Web extends access to a computer, but requires the phone app: users open it and scan a code. The web page sets minimum app versions for Android and iOS, so this is not an independent desktop sign-in route. The Privacy Management Centre lets both subscribers and non-subscribers control profile visibility, edit profile information or deactivate a profile.

Privacy deserves consideration before enabling the app’s functions. Getcontact may request contacts access for caller ID and spam detection, and contact-list data may be periodically synchronized when relevant functions are enabled. The company says it does not sell personal information and funds free access through advertising partners; Premium removes ads. Its privacy policy also says messages between users are end-to-end encrypted and cannot be read by developers. Customer support is available 24/7, with support@getcontact.com as a contact channel.

Pricing

The free basic version costs 0.00 USD per free and covers standard mobile-app functionality. It is the sensible starting point for call screening, but does not include Premium’s ad-free use and added tag and query information.

Getcontact Premium costs 2.99 USD per month, billed Monthly. It removes ads and includes tag-viewer information, number-query information, private mode and a Premium badge. Premium is the lower-cost paid choice for people who want those features; the Premium Yearly plan lists the same benefits, billed Annually, at custom pricing.

The separate monthly tariffs are built for searching and viewing tags, with higher allowances costing more:

Plan	Price	Monthly allowance
Tariff 1	6.99 USD per month	100 searches; 10 tag views
Tariff 2	13.99 USD per month	200 searches; 20 tag views
Tariff 3	18.99 USD per month	300 searches; 30 tag views
Tariff 4	26.99 USD per month	500 searches; 50 tag views
Tariff 5	32.99 USD per month	700 searches; 70 tag views
Tariff 6	41.99 USD per month	1,000 searches; 100 tag views
Tariff 7	57.99 USD per month	1,500 searches; 150 tag views

The tariffs suit users with recurring lookup needs, but the monthly quotas make them a poor fit for occasional checks or anyone expecting unlimited searches. The pricing note also includes a 7-day trial; no trial terms are stated for a particular plan.

Platforms

Getcontact supports Android, iOS and web. The web option depends on a phone app and code scan, so computer users still need an Android or iOS device for access.

Who it's for

Choose Getcontact if you want caller ID paired with automated spam protection and a community reporting layer, and if profile controls and contact permissions are acceptable trade-offs. It is less suitable if you need a standalone desktop experience, want lookup without monthly quotas on paid tariffs, or prefer not to enable contact-related functions.

Pros and cons

Pros: Caller ID, automatic spam protection and community reporting work together to give unfamiliar calls more context.
Pros: The Privacy Management Centre provides controls to change profile visibility, edit information or deactivate a profile, including for non-subscribers.
Pros: The free basic version provides a route to standard mobile functionality without a subscription.
Cons: Computer access relies on the phone app and a code scan, rather than a separate web sign-in.
Cons: Contact access may be requested, and contact-list data can be synchronized when relevant functions are enabled.
Cons: Paid search-and-tag tariffs have defined monthly quotas, which can constrain frequent lookup users.

Alternatives

Whoscall is a better fit for Android or iOS users who want a free caller ID and blocking option that also checks phone numbers, URLs and screenshots, with scam reports and rewards.

Hiya Spam Blocker is worth considering for Android and iOS users seeking a free basic tier with caller ID, basic blocking and spam-number reporting.

RoboKiller offers a free tier with a global blacklist, spam-call notifications, weekly insights, spam reporting and Spam Patrol for Android and iOS users.

NumBuster is another freemium option for Android, iOS and web, with a free mobile app and paid features.

YouMail may suit users who need voicemail tools alongside blocking: its free tier includes 50 cloud messages, 100 voicemail-to-text transcriptions per month and unlimited known-spammer blocking.

RealCall is an Android and iOS alternative with a free plan and a 7-day trial, followed by a subscription listed at 4.49 USD per month.

CallApp offers unlimited-time free use with caller ID, spam protection and call blocking on Android and iOS.

PhoneBlock is the choice to consider if you want free, open-source software: it is licensed under GPL-3.0 and supports Android, iOS, API, self-hosted and web use.

Verdict

Getcontact is a strong choice for people who want shared caller identification and automatic spam protection, with profile controls to manage their presence. Choose it for that combined screening and community layer; look elsewhere if computer-first access or uncapped paid lookup matters more.
