Overview

HairTry is an AI hairstyle and color preview service for people who want to compare ideas on a photo before a salon appointment. It is best suited to users who want more control than a preset gallery offers, through reference-photo transfer or written prompts. The multi-angle previews are a useful planning aid, but ongoing use requires buying credits that expire.

Key features

HairTry’s library contains more than 1,000 hairstyles, with more than 50 new styles added monthly. Its AI analyzes more than 67 facial points to recommend looks. That breadth gives users plenty of starting points, though recommendations and generated previews are not a substitute for a stylist’s assessment of what can be achieved with their hair.

Previews cover front, side, back and top views, and the app offers 15 colors, from natural shades to bold ones. Users can also upload an inspiration image to transfer its hairstyle onto a selfie, or describe a look in words for the AI to generate. The combination is particularly useful when a user has a specific reference or idea; those who only want a quick, single-angle try-on may not need the additional controls.

Credit packs include custom views, personalized recommendations, social sharing, HD downloads and watermark-free exports. HairTry also identifies ultra-HD output as a feature. The homepage says the free trial includes all features and requires no credit card.

Photos and privacy

HairTry says uploaded photos are automatically deleted after 14 days and are not used for other purposes. Its privacy policy says facial data is not used for identification, biometric recognition is not performed, and facial data is not shared with third parties. Registration may require an email address, city, gender and name. The 14-day deletion period is worth weighing if a shorter retention window matters to you.

Pricing

HairTry offers a free trial with all features and no credit card requirement. Paid credit packs are one-time purchases rather than monthly subscriptions, but credits are valid for 60 days, so they suit users who expect to generate previews within that window.

Starter: 4.99 USD per once, billed Pay as you go, for 20 credits. It includes all hairstyles and colors, custom views, personalized recommendations, no watermark, 14 days of cloud storage, social sharing and HD download. This is the lowest-cost entry point, but its smaller credit balance is better for occasional exploration.
Casual: 12.99 USD per once, billed Pay as you go, for 50 credits, with the same included features. It gives users more room to compare looks without moving to the largest pack.
Enthusiast: 29.99 USD per once, billed Pay as you go, for 120 credits, with the same included features. It is the better fit for sustained experimentation, provided the credits will be used before they expire.

All three packs include the same feature set, so the choice is chiefly about how many previews you expect to make in 60 days. The trial is the sensible first step for anyone unsure whether the result quality or workflow will suit them.

Platforms

HairTry runs on Android, iOS, macOS and the web. That range makes it practical to begin on a phone and continue on a desktop, while users who prefer a single platform have no need to change devices to access the service.

Who it's for

HairTry is a strong fit for people preparing for a salon visit who want to compare colors and styles across multiple angles or bring a visual reference into the process. Prompt-based generation also suits users who can describe what they want but have not found an exact example. It is less compelling for someone who wants an ongoing, subscription-style service or cannot use credits within their 60-day validity period.

Pros and cons

Pros: Reference-image transfer and text prompts provide two ways to guide a look beyond selecting from a library.
Pros: Four preview angles and 15 colors help users examine more than a front-facing cut or a narrow palette.
Pros: The free trial includes all features without requiring a credit card, lowering the cost of deciding whether the tool fits.
Cons: Purchased credits expire after 60 days, which disadvantages sporadic users.
Cons: Uploaded photos are retained for up to 14 days before automatic deletion, which may not suit users seeking shorter retention.

Alternatives

AI Hairstyle Generators is the broader category to browse if you want to compare services before choosing one.

Choose HairHunt instead if a free hairstyle try-on with a watermark-free result matters more than HairTry’s larger credit packs: its free plan includes one try-on and 100+ styles. Its subscription provides 200 credits every month for 9.99 USD per month.

Naee is an iOS alternative for readers who want to compare another mobile option.

AI Hair Color & Style is worth considering if you want a free credit to start or a small one-time purchase: its plans include one free credit, two looks for 2.99 USD per once, and five credits for 4.99 USD per once.

Hair AI Salon is another Android and iOS option with free initial-preview credits.

The Right Hairstyles AI Hairstyle Changer offers one free try-on, 100+ styles and a watermark-free result; its subscription provides 200 credits monthly and can be canceled anytime.

Pict.AI may suit users who want to try a broader AI image tool: its web access includes two free uses per tool per IP address, with further use directing users to its mobile app.

Haristyle offers four premium styles free on Android.

Snipd is an iOS and web alternative with a free download and style quiz, though some features require Premium.

Verdict

Choose HairTry if you want to take a reference image or a written idea into a multi-angle hairstyle preview, then compare colors before a salon visit. Its generous range of ways to shape a preview is the main reason to choose it; the 60-day credit expiry is the main reason occasional users should look elsewhere.
