packwiz
packwiz is a free, open-source command-line tool for building Minecraft modpacks from TOML metadata rather than managing JAR files directly. The metadata can be version-controlled and shared with Git. Its CLI installs mods and resource packs from CurseForge and Modrinth, updates individual or all mods, imports CurseForge packs, and exports packs for CurseForge or Modrinth. Packs can be served over HTTP or HTTPS, and a local server is available for testing. The Java-based packwiz-installer supports automatic installation and updates, optional mods, and side-only mods, and can be used with MultiMC and ATLauncher. Packs can also place configuration files, scripts, and other custom files in corresponding game folders. The index records hashes for integrity checking, with support for formats including SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA-1, and MD5. The maker recommends packwiz for private server modpacks and packs intended for CurseForge or Modrinth. It is free under the MIT license and runs on Windows; installation options include prebuilt binaries or compiling with Go 1.19 or newer.
