In their own words
GOG Galaxy
GOG Galaxy brings game libraries and friends from different gaming platforms into one app for Windows and macOS. It can collect PC and console games, including titles that are not installed, and track achievements, play time, and owned games across connected services. For PC games, it can install and launch titles owned on different platforms. Library tools include filtering, sorting, tagging, changing game visuals, saving views, and editing metadata. Galaxy combines friends lists, online status, activity, and cross-platform chat. Games can enter the library through official or community-made integrations, or be added manually; community integrations are open source, and GOG provides documentation for creating them. Library changes sync between devices, and offline mode is available. GOG says it does not share imported personal data with third parties and removes it from its servers when a platform is disconnected. GOG-specific features include auto-updates, cloud saves, multiplayer, matchmaking, and rollbacks. Other platforms’ client software is needed for their platform-specific features. The app is free with a GOG account.
Snapser
Snapser is a backend platform for games and apps, built around modular services called Snaps. Listed Snaps cover authentication, analytics, chat, matchmaking, game server fleets, leaderboards, inventory, storage, and social features. Developers can package custom services written in any language as private Snaps using the Snapser CLI. The platform describes dedicated Kubernetes clusters with autoscaling, load balancing, and high availability, plus monitoring, logs, APIs, configuration, and operational tools for deployed backends. Its snapctl CLI can publish services and game servers and generate and download SDKs. Documented integrations and starter projects include Unity, Unreal Engine, Discord, Roblox, React, and React Native. Enterprise teams can host an instance in their own cloud provider account, such as AWS. The Premium plan is $4,999 a month per project plus usage, with production usage billed separately; it lists unlimited seats, 25 custom clusters, and a 99.98% production uptime guarantee. A Starter Tier trial lasts 14 days with no monthly platform fee during the trial.
