In their own words
Google Cloud Profiler
Google Cloud Profiler is a free sampling profiler for examining resource use in production applications. Its profiling agent gathers CPU usage and memory allocation data and attributes that information to source code. A Google Cloud console displays and analyzes the collected profiles. Supported languages are Go, Java, Node.js, and Python, with profile types varying by language. Available types include CPU time, heap, allocated heap, contention, threads, and wall time. Deployment options include Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, App Engine, Managed Service for Apache Spark, Dataflow, and some environments outside Google Cloud, depending on language. The listed operating systems are Linux with glibc and, for some configurations, Linux with musl. Google states that CPU and heap collection overhead is under 5%, commonly under 0.5% when averaged across execution time and service replicas. Profiles are retained for 30 days and can be downloaded for longer storage. Cloud Profiler supports VPC Service Controls; quotas and limits apply.
JProfiler
JProfiler is a desktop profiler for Java and Kotlin applications on the JVM. It helps locate performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, slow JDBC queries and costly HTTP calls. Its analysis covers CPU and memory use, heaps, threads and garbage collection, with high-level probes for JDBC, JPA, MongoDB and Kafka operations. HTTP profiling examines incoming and outgoing calls, and the product supports Spring and JEE components. Users can compare snapshots, inspect JFR recordings, and automate offline recording through triggers or an API. Documented IDE integrations include IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, NetBeans and VS Code. JProfiler can profile JVMs in Kubernetes and Docker and connect to remote JVMs through SSH without remote installation or agent deployment. It runs on the user's infrastructure and does not send profiling data to ej-technologies or third parties; cloud AI agents may send data they receive to their provider. A free evaluation license has restrictions. The perpetual single license costs $549 as a one-time purchase; other listed licenses include floating options and support-and-upgrade bundles.
