In their own words
Google Sites
Google Sites is a web tool for creating sites for teams, projects, and events without programming skills. Its drag-and-drop editor uses an automatic grid that adapts to different devices, with premade and custom templates. Collaborators can edit together in real time. Pages can include Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Charts, YouTube videos, calendars, maps, and Drive files, or embed website sections and HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. Owners publish with a web address and choose who can view the site, including people outside an organisation. Published sites work on computers, phones, and tablets, but editing requires a computer. Google lists Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, and Safari for viewing. Hosting and custom domains are supported, while sites and embedded content count toward Drive storage. A free offering is listed; Google Workspace Business Starter costs $7 per user/month, Standard 14.00 USD, and Plus 22.00 USD.
WordPress.com
WordPress.com is a hosted website and publishing platform with managed WordPress hosting and site management through Jetpack apps for iOS and Android. It supports custom domains, custom-code theme changes, scheduled posts, memberships, blog analytics, and prompt-to-site creation. All plans include unmetered bandwidth. Storage ranges from 1 GB on Free to 50 GB on Business and Commerce. Paid plans list unlimited pages, posts, users, and visitors. Security includes firewalls, encryption, brute force protection, and DDoS protection. Business and Commerce include developer tools and real-time backups; Commerce also includes ecommerce tools and a WooCommerce experience. Listed annual prices are $2.75 a month for Personal, $5.50 a month for Premium, $17.50 a month for Business, and $31.50 a month for Commerce (billed every 12 months, excluding taxes).
