In their own words
Google Slides
Google Slides is a browser-based presentation tool for creating and delivering presentations without installation. Anyone with a Google Account can create slides, and the service runs on the web, Android, and iOS. Users can start with templates and add videos, animations, transitions, GIFs, and stickers. Gemini in Slides can summarize content, generate slides from prompts and Drive content, and create images. Collaborators can edit live, comment, use live pointers, and control who can view, comment on, or edit a presentation. Slides can also be accessed, created, and edited offline. It can import or directly edit Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and import Canva presentations online. Users can present through Google Meet, add speaker spotlight, or record presentations on some Workspace plans. Google offers a free plan; paid plans start at $7/user/mo, with a 14-day trial. Some capabilities require a Workspace plan or add-on. Google says Slides data is encrypted by default and describes additional security and privacy controls.
Slides
Slides is a web presentation editor for creating, presenting and sharing decks, with AI tools that can draft content, rewrite text and refine visuals. Decks can be presented live, shared by link, exported, embedded or self-hosted. The service supports PowerPoint import and export, presenter mode, offline access, real-time collaboration, templates and brand kits. Free accounts can create public decks only. Paid customers get private decks by default, can change visibility, and can share private decks with a secret link or password; decks marked Internal are visible to team members and not others. Plan limits differ: Lite includes 1 GB of storage, one collaborator per deck and 50 AI credits monthly; Pro includes unlimited storage, three collaborators and 400 monthly AI credits; Team includes unlimited deck collaborators and 400 credits per user monthly. Team also supports SSO with Okta, Microsoft, Google and more. Developers can use a REST API, MCP server, and full HTML and CSS access. Listed integrations include Dropbox, Google Analytics, Google Maps, Google Forms, YouTube and Markdown. It runs in a modern browser and requires an internet connection. Free costs nothing; Lite is $5 a month billed annually, with monthly billing also available.
