| Detection | It includes pattern-based rules, SSA analyzers, and taint analysis for risks such as injection, path traversal, SSRF, and unsafe deserialization. | It detects patterns including SQL injection, cross-site scripting, CSRF, and XML external entity injection. |
| License | The repository states that gosec is licensed under Apache License 2.0. | The project repository identifies its license as LGPL-3.0. |
| Purpose | gosec inspects Go source code for security problems by scanning its AST and SSA code representation. | Security Code Scan is a static code analyzer for .NET that detects vulnerability patterns in C# and VB.NET. |
| Taint analysis | Taint rules trace user-controlled data toward SQL, command, path, SSRF, XSS, log, SMTP, template and deserialization sinks. | The analyzer performs inter-procedural taint analysis for input data. |

In their own words
gosec
gosec is a free Go source-code security checker that analyzes abstract syntax trees and static single assignment representations. It applies pattern rules, SSA analyzers, and taint analysis to detect issues including injection, path traversal, SSRF, unsafe deserialization, cryptography and TLS problems, blocklisted imports, and Go-specific risks. Findings map to Common Weakness Enumeration entries. Users can select or exclude rules, define path-based exclusions, and change settings such as audit mode. Reports are available as text, JSON, YAML, CSV, JUnit XML, HTML, SonarQube, golint, and SARIF. The project documents GitHub Actions and SARIF uploads to GitHub code scanning; its goanalysis package supports tools such as Bazel nogo. Local installation requires Go 1.25 or newer, with dependencies loaded through Go modules. An optional AI feature suggests fixes through Atlas Cloud, Gemini, Claude, OpenAI, or custom OpenAI-compatible APIs. Automated detection can produce false positives, which annotations can suppress. It is licensed under Apache License 2.0.
Security Code Scan
Security Code Scan is a free, open-source static analyzer for .NET projects written in C# and VB.NET. It detects vulnerability patterns such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting, CSRF, and XML external entity injection, using inter-procedural taint analysis to follow input data. Projects can be analyzed in the background through IntelliSense or during a build. For delivery workflows, it supports GitHub and GitLab pipelines, MSBuild, and a stand-alone runner; custom integrations can emit SARIF results and place warnings alongside other build messages. Users can define taint sources, sinks, sanitizers, validators, and project-specific settings. The analyzer supports Visual Studio 2019 or higher, while the project says other Roslyn analyzer editors such as Rider or OmniSharp should work. Releases are available as a NuGet package, Visual Studio extension, and stand-alone runner for Windows and Linux. The maker warns that the extension or NuGet package can slow the IDE and recommends CI/CD pipelines as the more common use case. Audit mode is off by default. The repository identifies an LGPL-3.0 license.
