In their own words
GoStudent
GoStudent offers personalized one-to-one tutoring online and in person, with lessons advertised across more than 30 school subjects. Its coverage includes all school subjects, with particular emphasis on maths, physics and English; university subjects are expanding. GoClass provides a shared whiteboard and interactive tools, followed by a lesson summary parents can use to follow progress. Membership examples describe 50-minute individual lessons and 4–12 lessons per month. The per-lesson price depends on membership duration and lesson frequency, and higher lesson volumes lower the per-unit price. GoStudent Learning adds interactive curriculum materials, videos, quizzes, adaptive exercises and AI tutor Amelia. A free, no-obligation trial tutoring lesson does not require a credit card. Learning has a free trial month before a €14.90 monthly subscription. The service is available on web, Android and iOS. The company offers support seven days a week through its Customer Success team. It says tutors are selected and vetted and describes its online platform as secure. GoStudent was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
Tutorful
Tutorful helps students find tutors, compare candidates, and book and pay for one-to-one lessons through its website. Students provide the subject, level, goals, availability, and preferences to receive a shortlist. Tutor profiles show experience, qualifications, teaching style, reviews, and ratings. Lessons take place online through Tutorful’s classroom using Lessonspace, with a whiteboard, document uploads, and screen sharing; online lessons are recorded for students and parents to replay. The service covers academic subjects, languages, music, arts, computing, sports, and special educational needs, from primary level through A-level and beyond. Students pay the tutor-set hourly rate plus a service fee; lessons generally cost £20–£45 per hour including fees, depending on subject, study level, and tutor experience. Tutors have free accounts and set their own rates, with no commission deducted from earnings. Tutors must have an enhanced background check awarded within the previous three years, and new tutors must provide two written references. Lessons are only available online through the classroom. Tutorful’s free tutor app is available on iOS and Android.
