| Spec score · Minecraft Mod Development Tools | 8.5 (#6) | 8.6 (#4) |
| Integrations | Gradle lists integrations or support for Android Studio, Ant, Maven and Ivy repositories, and Checkstyle, CodeNarc, PMD, and JaCoCo. | The README documents setup for Claude Desktop and Claude Code, and also describes an HTTP transport for clients or editors. |
| Intended users | Gradle describes itself as the open-source build system of choice for Java, Android, and Kotlin developers, from startups to large enterprises. | The README describes the tools as supporting Minecraft mod development workflows, including analyzing third-party mods, validating mixins, and checking version changes. |
| Purpose | Gradle Build Tool automates building software of any type, size, or complexity. | Minecraft Dev MCP gives AI assistants access to tools for decompiling, remapping, searching, and analyzing Minecraft source code. |
| Security | Gradle includes dependency verification; the maker says open-source security fixes are limited by its end-of-life policy, while its Security Subscription offers prioritized fixes under SLA and extended maintenance. | The README says loopback binding at 127.0.0.1 enables DNS-rebinding protection; binding to a non-loopback host disables that protection and should be limited to a trusted network, ideally behind a reverse proxy or authentication. |

In their own words
Gradle
Gradle Build Tool is a free, open-source system for automating software builds across projects of different types and sizes. Build logic can use either Kotlin DSL or Groovy DSL. Incremental builds, caching and parallel task execution support the build process, while Gradle downloads and manages transitive dependencies from Maven- and Ivy-compatible repositories. The Gradle Wrapper can provision a build environment and specify the Gradle version used by a project. Its ecosystem covers JVM, Android, C/C++, Swift, Objective-C and assembler projects, and it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. The Tooling API lets IDEs and other tools inspect projects, run builds, receive progress events and cancel operations. Listed support includes Android Studio and Ant, plus Checkstyle, CodeNarc, PMD and JaCoCo. Gradle includes dependency verification. The maker says open-source security fixes are limited by its end-of-life policy; its Security Subscription offers prioritized fixes under SLA and extended maintenance, but does not guarantee a clean scanner report when findings come from third-party libraries.
Minecraft Development MCP Server
Minecraft Development MCP Server gives AI assistants and development tools ways to inspect Minecraft Java source and mods. It can download, decompile and remap versions on first use, then cache the results for searching and analysis. Its 21 tools cover source code, mappings and registry data, validation, and mod analysis. Developers can validate Mixin code and loader-specific access rules, inspect mod JAR metadata and dependencies, and compare versions at class and AST levels to identify changes. Mapping namespaces include Yarn, Mojmap, Intermediary and obfuscated names. Yarn is available for Minecraft 1.14–1.21.11; versions 26.1 and later support Mojmap, while Yarn is unavailable. Setup is documented for Claude Desktop and Claude Code, with HTTP transport and a standalone CLI also available. Installation options include global npm, npx or a source build. It is free and MIT-licensed, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux/WSL. Node.js 18 or newer is required, and Java 17 or newer is needed for decompilation and remapping. Its local cache uses about 400–500 MB per Minecraft version.
