Guitar2Tabs vs TabMaker

Guitar2Tabs turns guitar recordings and YouTube links into editable tabs and sheet music. It supports acoustic, electric and bass guitar, for both strummed parts and picked melodies. Users can upload audio, record in the app or paste a YouTube link, then play back the transcription and edit notes before exporting. Notation can be shown as tabs or standard notation. Export formats include PDF, quantized or unquantized MIDI, MusicXML and Guitar Pro files, compatible with MuseScore, Sibelius, Guitar Pro, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase and GarageBand. A personal songbook stores files and makes transcriptions accessible on desktop devices. The free demo allows unlimited transcriptions of up to 20 seconds each without signup, and the Free plan includes PDF downloads. Instrument Pro is $14.99 a month, billed monthly, for 50 full transcriptions per month, up to 15 minutes each, additional export formats and a browser-based editor. The service runs on the web, Android and iOS.

TabMaker is a browser-based tool for creating, organizing and managing tabs for guitar, bass, ukulele and banjo. Its AI can turn microphone-recorded guitar riffs into tabs, or process MP3 and M4A files up to 6 MB in Quick Tabs, Enhanced Tabs or Chords Only modes. A separate Guitar & Bass to MIDI tool converts MP3 recordings into standard MIDI files with detected notes and musical properties. The browser app supports tab and standard notation, and plays tabs with acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass or banjo sounds. Tabs can be exported as PDF or ASCII text, printed in the browser or shared through a viewing link. The free plan costs nothing, requires no registration and stores tabs in browser localStorage; cloud storage is included with paid subscriptions. Monthly subscription costs $3.99 a month, or annual subscription costs $34.99 a year. The iOS app adds cloud saving and exports including PDF, MP3, MIDI and text.
