In their own words

Gyazo

Gyazo captures images and video, then creates links that can be shared. It supports still images, videos, frames, webcam footage, and voice explanations, with scrolling capture and exports in JPG, PNG, GIF, and MP4. OCR recognizes text in captures and makes those words searchable. Passwords, viewer permissions, and hashed URLs provide ways to control access. Gyazo runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and the web, with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge support. The free plan allows unlimited screenshot capture and uploads, and unlimited HD video recording and uploads, but only the 10 latest images are accessible and recordings are limited to 7 seconds. Gyazo Pro costs $6.99 a month on a 12-month monthly plan, or $71.88 a year. Pro supports video recording up to 10 minutes and replay recording up to 30 seconds. Teams has a five-user minimum and includes private team sharing, multi-user management, team billing, a custom subdomain, and optional Google Workspace SSO.

Snipping Tool

Snipping Tool is a free Windows utility for capturing screen images and video, then editing, saving, and sharing them. Image captures can use freeform, rectangular, window, or full-screen modes; video snips use a separate overlay. Windows+Shift+S opens image capture, while Windows+Shift+R opens video capture. A delay control provides a one-to-five-second countdown. Image snips support pen, highlighter, shapes, emojis, erasing, and cropping. Text actions use OCR to extract selected or all text and can redact email addresses or phone numbers. Microsoft says recognition runs locally on the device. Captures save automatically to the Screenshots folder, with settings to change saving behavior or the default folder. Recorded video can open in Clipchamp for editing, including captions or audio. The app ships with Windows 10 and Windows 11 and can be obtained from the Microsoft Store if missing. Scrolling capture is not supported.
