In their own words
Habitica
Habitica turns habits, daily goals and to-do lists into a game to help users stay motivated and organized. Completing tasks can level up an avatar and unlock armor, pets, skills and quests. Users can spend in-game gold on equipment or custom rewards, while friends can fight monsters together for accountability. Group Plans add a shared task board and dedicated chat space; members can assign tasks or leave them open as challenges. Group Plan members receive an exclusive Jackalope Mount and subscription benefits that include monthly equipment sets and the ability to buy Gems with Gold. Habitica has a free plan, and the listed Free plan costs nothing. A Group Plan costs $9 a month plus $3 per additional member. Group subscriptions renew automatically and are billed based on the number of members; adding members between periods can lead to a prorated charge on the next billing cycle. Habitica publishes V3 API documentation for third-party tools and directs developers to its usage guidelines. Its iOS listing notes optional in-app purchases and subscriptions.
Strides
Strides is a tracker app that brings goals, habits, daily routines, tasks, and projects together. It offers Habit, Target, Average, and Project tracker types. Users can set SMART goals through a three-step process or start from a template; the app includes more than 150 templates and supports custom trackers. Progress tools include pace lines, streaks, success rates, calendars, line charts, and reports. The Daily Goals view filters trackers to those due for logging according to their repeat settings. Users can invite accountability partners to view selected goals or collaborate on a goal using iCloud on Apple devices. The app listing says Strides integrates with Apple Health, and the listed platforms are Android, iOS, and macOS. The maker says it does not rent, sell, or share user data with other companies or advertisers. Apple-only users can store data on devices and in iCloud; Android data is stored on the phone by default, with Firebase backup available if enabled.
