Overview

The product spans community, operational services and a marketplace rather than focusing on one resident task. That scope can give students a single place to connect with peers and staff, request services and engage with on-site businesses. Operators should weigh that consolidation against the work of integrating it with existing systems and the possibility of bespoke development.

Key features

Community and engagement

Location-aware communities, interest matching, dynamic profiles, group chats, hangouts and direct messages give residents several ways to find and contact one another. Events, staff broadcasts, polls and surveys add structured ways to share updates and invite participation. This is a strong fit for accommodation teams that want communication and community features alongside core services, rather than a service-request app alone.

Resident services and marketplace

Students can report maintenance or wellbeing issues, contact concierge, use keyless entry, book rooms and receive mail or package alerts. Rent payments, amenity booking, package tracking and resident service requests are also supported. The range is useful for operators seeking to centralise common accommodation interactions, though the product's breadth may be unnecessary for sites that only need one or two of these functions.

The Marketplace adds food and drink ordering, retail purchases, discounts, table ordering, card payments and on-site job opportunities. Payments are processed through PayPal or Stripe, and HeyHub says it does not hold partner payments. Operators should consider whether that payment arrangement suits their own workflows.

Integrations, support and moderation

HeyHub says it can connect with CRM, property-management and access-control systems, with an open API for integrations. Bespoke work or multiple integrations can extend deployment beyond the estimated 8–10 weeks after products and features are finalised. Partners receive a designated account manager and a customer-service portal monitored daily.

HeyHub says it is GDPR compliant and works to reduce data-security breach risk. It does not monitor in-app conversations; users can report misconduct for the partner team to review. That approach leaves moderation decisions with the partner, so operators should be comfortable with the review responsibilities before choosing the product.

Pricing

The Free test plan is free and includes HeyHub Community and HeyHub Facility modules, colleagues and no credit-card requirement. It offers a way to assess those modules without an upfront payment, but it is not the sector-specific license for a full deployment.

The HeyHub sector-specific license has custom pricing: residential sites are priced per unit, commercial sites per square foot, and mixed-use sites are quoted after a site review. Integrations and bespoke development are excluded from the standard license, so operators needing either should account for them separately. The unit- or area-based approach ties the quote to the property, but makes direct budget comparison difficult without a site-specific proposal.

HeyHub offers pilot schemes lasting 6 to 12 months, with duration based on partner requirements and HeyHub's recommendation. That gives operators a defined evaluation period, though they should establish the pilot's scope and commercial terms with the partner team.

Platforms

HeyHub Student runs on Android, iOS and the web. Its resident app supports two-way messaging, online rent payments, amenity booking, package tracking and resident service requests.

Who it's for

HeyHub typically recommends at least 150 units or 50,000 square feet for an impactful deployment, while allowing case-by-case exceptions. That threshold points toward established accommodation operations with enough residents or floor area to benefit from the community and service mix. Smaller sites may find the scale and integration effort disproportionate to their needs.

Pros and cons

Pros: Community, staff engagement, facility services and marketplace functions sit in one product, which suits operators aiming to consolidate resident-facing activity.
Pros: Android, iOS and web support, alongside connections to CRM, property-management and access-control systems, accommodates varied resident and operational workflows.
Cons: The sector-specific license is custom-priced, and integrations or bespoke development are outside its standard scope, making total deployment cost dependent on the site.
Cons: HeyHub recommends a substantial minimum deployment scale, and reported misconduct requires partner-team review because conversations are not monitored by HeyHub.

Alternatives

For a broader shortlist, see Property Management Resident Experience Software.

Quiltt is worth considering when a free, permanently priced entry point matters: its Essentials plan is free, billed $0 forever, and includes unlimited users, a web admin portal, a community app and an activity calendar. Flamingo offers a free Resident Event Marketplace plan for event booking, management and engagement analytics, making it a more focused option for event-led engagement.

GoAmenity is another paid Android, iOS and web option. MyCoridor may suit a smaller property seeking a defined entry price: its Basic plan is 1.00 USD per month, billed $1/mo for the first 3 months and then $35/mo, for up to 50 units. Bilt Hospitality for Housing is a paid option for owners and operators whose pricing is obtained by booking a demo.

hoa.to is a paid alternative with a Self-managed plan at 0.90 USD per month, billed $0.90 per unit per month with a $29/mo minimum and all modules included. Linked Senior is a paid option for teams that need iOS, web and Windows support. Homebody is another option with a free plan and Android, iOS and web support.

Verdict

Choose HeyHub Student if you operate a substantial student accommodation site and want community, services and marketplace functions in one cross-platform product. Its integrated scope is the main reason to choose it; its custom pricing, possible integration costs and partner-led misconduct review are reasons to look elsewhere if you need predictable costs or centrally monitored conversations.
