Overview

PIN, fingerprint and Face ID protection cover access to the vault, while custom albums help keep different kinds of content separate. Premium adds a distinct password for each album, useful when a shared device or a mixed collection calls for more than one access boundary.

Keepsafe can sync vault items to a private cloud for recovery or use on another device. The company says photos and videos are protected by 256-bit AES encryption at rest, backups are encrypted, and employees cannot view users’ content. These are meaningful privacy protections for stored files and backups, though they do not replace securing the device and account.

Key features

Access controls: PIN, fingerprint or Face ID protection gives mobile users several ways to secure the vault.
Albums: Custom albums organize content; Premium’s separate album passwords suit users who want to restrict parts of a vault independently.
Cloud backup: Encrypted syncing can help recover items or use them on another device, but storage quotas differ by plan.
Premium privacy tools: A Decoy Vault with a separate PIN and Intruder Alerts that photograph incorrect-PIN attempts add deterrents for users concerned about unwanted access.
Space Saver and Safe Send: Space Saver compresses on-device photos while keeping originals in the cloud, helpful when phone storage is tight. Safe Send shares pictures from Keepsafe for a limited time.
Private camera: A private camera is included among the app’s features.

Pricing

Keepsafe Basic costs 0.00 USD per free. It is ad-supported and backs up up to 200 cloud items, so it can suit a small collection but is a poor fit for anyone building a larger archive.

Keepsafe Premium Monthly costs 9.99 USD per month, billed monthly, and automatically renews unless cancelled. It supports up to 10,000 cloud items and includes Premium features. This is the flexible choice for someone who wants the full feature set without committing to a year, but renewal needs to be managed.

Keepsafe Premium Yearly costs 23.99 USD per year, billed yearly, and automatically renews unless cancelled. It has the same 10,000-item cap and Premium features at a much lower listed cost over a year than paying monthly, making it the more economical paid option for ongoing use.

Keepsafe Premium Lifetime has custom pricing. It supports up to 100,000 cloud items and includes Premium features, making its larger quota relevant to long-term collections, though its cost cannot be weighed against the subscriptions.

New accounts receive a complimentary 30-day Premium trial, and Keepsafe says it does not automatically charge when the trial ends. Support is available by in-app ticket or email.

Platforms

Keepsafe Photo Vault runs on Android and iOS, including iPhone, Android phones and tablets. It is a mobile choice, not a desktop-platform option.

Who it's for

The app fits people preserving personal or family photos, keeping copies of identity or credit cards, or organizing documents behind access controls. Cloud recovery and Premium’s higher item ceilings matter most to users with substantial collections or a need to move vault contents between devices. Someone with only a small set of files can start with Basic; someone who wants no subscription or needs more than 200 cloud items on a free plan should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: PIN and biometric access plus encrypted cloud backup combine local privacy controls with recovery and cross-device use.
Pro: Premium’s Decoy Vault, Intruder Alerts, album passwords, Space Saver and temporary sharing address distinct privacy, storage and sharing needs.
Con: Basic is limited to 200 cloud items and includes ads, a tight ceiling for ongoing photo or document storage.
Con: Paid plans renew automatically unless cancelled, and Lifetime’s custom pricing makes its higher 100,000-item quota harder to compare.

Alternatives

Browse Photo Vault Apps for a broader shortlist. Weave Vault is worth considering for an Android or iOS user whose needs fit its free allowance of three vaults and 50 files per vault. Choose Secret Album: Photo Vault if iOS and macOS support matters more than Android availability. Obscura Photo Vault offers iOS users a free single vault for up to 50 photos, with a 6.99 USD per month Pro plan for unlimited photos, videos and vaults.

GalleryVault is another freemium option for Android and iOS, with a listed monthly plan priced in CNY. PhotoGuard is an Android alternative. Private Photo Vault suits Android and iOS users considering a basic on-device vault, with cloud backup deleted when switching to Basic. Vaulty is an Android alternative whose free plan includes ads and automatic Google Drive backup. Magic Photo Vault is another freemium choice for Android and iOS.

Verdict

Keepsafe Photo Vault is a strong fit for mobile users who value encrypted cloud recovery alongside PIN or biometric access, and who expect their collection to outgrow a small free vault. Its main reason to choose it is the combination of backup with layered Premium privacy tools; its main reason to look elsewhere is the 200-item free cap, especially if a recurring subscription does not suit your needs.
