| Dashboards | The chart builder graphs logs, metrics and traces, including high-cardinality dimensions such as customer identifiers. | Custom dashboards can be created through the interface or YAML and can use spans, events, logs and metrics. |
| Deployment options | both | Self-hosted installation options include Docker, Ansible, and Kubernetes, and Linux packages are available for amd64 and arm64. |
| Funding | Wellfound lists one undisclosed pre-seed funding round in July 2022 with Y Combinator as investor. | CheckThat reports no publicly available funding rounds, investor information, valuation or revenue data for Uptrace. |
| Integrations | Documented ingestion options include OpenTelemetry, Fluentd, Fluent Bit, Syslog, AWS services, Cloudflare Workers, Docker, Fly.io, Heroku, Kubernetes and Vercel. | Telemetry can arrive through OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Vector, Fluent Bit and CloudWatch, and Grafana can use Uptrace as Prometheus or Tempo data sources. |
| License | The public repository identifies the project as MIT licensed. | The main Uptrace repository is licensed AGPL-3.0; several SDK repositories use BSD-2-Clause and the Helm chart uses Apache-2.0. |
| Product | HyperDX is a cloud-based production monitoring and debugging tool for correlating logs, metrics, traces, and user sessions in one place. | Uptrace is an OpenTelemetry-native observability platform that unifies traces, metrics, and logs. |
| SDKs | Installation guides cover JavaScript browser, Elixir, Go, Java, NestJS, Next.js, Node.js, Deno, Python, React Native and Ruby on Rails. | Uptrace accepts any OpenTelemetry SDK and maintains distributions or integrations for languages including Go, Python, JavaScript, Java, PHP, Ruby, Rust and others. |
| Security | The site links to a SOC 2 Type II Security and Trust Center. | Uptrace states that browser traffic uses SSL/TLS, database backups are encrypted, and most live database data is not encrypted at rest. |
| Self-hosting | An open-source self-hostable edition is available alongside the hosted cloud service. | A self-hosted installation runs the Uptrace binary with ClickHouse for telemetry, PostgreSQL for metadata and Redis for caching and background jobs. |
| Support | The site lists [email protected] and links to its Discord community. | The project directs users to Telegram, Slack and GitHub Discussions for help; paid editions add email, priority, fast-SLA or dedicated support. |
| What it does | HyperDX is a production observability and debugging platform that brings logs, metrics, traces, errors and user sessions into one interface. | Uptrace is an OpenTelemetry-based observability and APM platform combining distributed traces, logs, metrics, dashboards and alerting. |

In their own words
HyperDX
HyperDX is a cloud-based production monitoring and debugging tool that brings logs, metrics, traces, and user sessions together. It is an open-source observability platform powered by ClickHouse and OpenTelemetry, with cloud and self-hosted deployment options across web, Linux, API, and self-hosted environments. Full-text search works across events without complex query syntax. Users can create visualizations and alerts, while notifications can go to Slack, email, or PagerDuty. Session replays link automatically with backend logs and traces, and recurring log patterns are grouped into clusters. Documented SDKs cover Elixir, Go, Java, browser JavaScript, Nest.js, Next.js, Node.js, Python, React Native, and Ruby on Rails. The Free plan costs nothing and includes 3 GB monthly, 3-day retention, and one user. Starter costs $20 a month with 50 GB, 30-day retention, and unlimited users. Enterprise has custom pricing. Billing adds charges above 50 GB monthly and for metrics usage.
Uptrace
Uptrace is an OpenTelemetry-native observability platform that unifies traces, metrics and logs. It provides UQL for querying spans and logs and a PromQL-compatible engine for metrics. Dashboards can combine spans, events, logs and metrics, configured in the UI or YAML. Metric and error monitors can send notifications through email, Slack, PagerDuty and other channels. Uptrace lists Grafana integration as a Prometheus and Tempo data source and includes a built-in MCP server for AI assistants. It offers cloud and self-hosted deployment, with Docker, Ansible and Kubernetes installation options; precompiled binaries are listed for Linux, macOS and Windows. Uptrace Cloud retains data for four weeks by default, with cold storage options for up to 100 weeks. The free Cloud plan includes 50 GB per month and 5,000 timeseries per month, while Community is free with unlimited usage and 14 days of retention. Paid plans start at $39 a month. The privacy policy says data in transit and database backups are encrypted, but most live database data is not encrypted at rest.
