Overview

ImageColorizer brings colorization, restoration, damage repair, and portrait retouching into one service for people working with old or imperfect photographs. It suits family collections and scanned portraits particularly well; the trade-off is that recurring work draws on monthly credits, and paid uploads have size guidance.

Its breadth is more useful than a single-purpose colorizer when a photo needs several kinds of correction. For occasional projects, the free allowance makes it approachable; for large archives, credit use and upload limits deserve attention before choosing a plan.

Key features

Colorization: The AI adds color to black-and-white images, including skin tones, clothing, scenery, and backgrounds. This is a natural fit for family or historical photos, though the result remains one step in a broader repair workflow.
Restoration and enhancement: Tools target contrast, clarity, and facial detail in faded or blurry photos. They address common age-related problems without making the service a general-purpose photo editor.
Damage repair: Repair tools reduce scratches, tears, stains, creases, water spots, and other visible damage, making the package useful when a scan needs more than color added.
Portrait retouching: The service can improve facial clarity, reduce noise, and smooth minor imperfections while aiming to retain a natural appearance. That focus suits scanned portraits better than broad creative editing.
Batch processing: Paid plans include legacy batch processing as well as single processing. The pricing page says processing or downloading an image costs 1 credit in batch processing, and repeated downloads also cost 1 credit, so batches still consume allowance.

JPG, PNG, and WEBP are supported. Paid users are advised to keep photos under 100MB and 4000px on one side; larger images may need resizing or compression before upload.

Cloud-processed source and result images are automatically deleted within 2 hours. The service says it uses encrypted transmission and strict access controls, with no offline-model processing or history-based file retention. Payments go through Paddle; ImageColorizer says it does not store card information and uses 256-bit SSL encryption.

Pricing

The free plan is free and includes 50 credits/month, single processing, all AI features, and ads. It is a useful way to handle occasional edits, but the small monthly allowance and ads make it a limited choice for recurring batches. There is no free trial.

Starter — 6.90 USD per month, billed Monthly: 500 credits/month, priority support, single processing, legacy batch processing, all AI features, and no ads. It is the entry point for regular personal work, though credit use can become a constraint across a larger collection.
Premium — 9.90 USD per month, billed Monthly: 1000 credits/month with the same listed features as Starter. The doubled allowance is the main reason to pay more; it better suits users processing photos regularly.
Business — 19.90 USD per month, billed Monthly: Unlimited access to the V2 model, priority support, single processing, legacy batch processing, all AI features, and no ads. It is the plan for heavier use when access to that model matters; the plan description does not give a credit quota.

Subscription credits can roll over to the next month. Batch processing, repeated downloads, and the paid upload guidance are worth factoring into the total workload rather than judging a plan by its headline allowance alone.

Platforms

ImageColorizer works on the web and supports Windows and Mac through web and desktop apps. Its Colorize app is offered for iOS, iPad, Mac, and Android, giving mobile users a route to the same photo-focused workflow. This platform spread is helpful for users who move between scanned files on a computer and photos on a phone.

Who it's for

ImageColorizer is best for people restoring family photos, historical images, or scanned portraits, especially when they need a mix of colorization, cleanup, and face enhancement. It also suits photos being prepared for sharing, archiving, or printing. Someone seeking a general-purpose editor, or needing to process a large archive without watching credits and upload dimensions, should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Colorization, restoration, repair, and portrait retouching are combined, reducing the need to switch between specialized tools for common old-photo fixes.
Pro: All AI features are included even on the free plan, so users can try the range before paying.
Pro: Automatic deletion of cloud-processed images within 2 hours and stated encrypted transmission provide concrete privacy safeguards.
Con: The free plan has 50 credits/month and ads, while paid work remains credit-based except for the Business plan's unlimited V2 model access.
Con: Paid photos should be under 100MB and 4000px on one side, which can add preparation work for high-resolution scans.
Con: Batch and repeat-download actions consume credits, so a nominal monthly allowance may cover fewer distinct finished photos than expected.

Alternatives

For a wider platform footprint, including API and Linux, consider Cutout.Pro; its subscription starts at 5.00 USD per month for 80 credits/month, a smaller allowance at a lower monthly price than ImageColorizer's Starter.

PicWish Photo Colorizer is a better fit if free bulk colorization is the priority: its online plan says users can colorize and download photos free and bulk edit up to 30 images.

Choose Colorize by Photomyne for an iOS or Android-focused option with a yearly membership at 59.99 USD per year after a 3-day free trial; ImageColorizer instead spans desktop and web platforms.

Palette may suit someone who wants unlimited color previews before committing, but its free trial credit produces watermarked previews resized to 500x500px.

For an alternative specifically positioned around old-photo restoration and available on Android, iOS, and web, see insMind AI Photo Restoration.

VanceAI Photo Colorizer is worth considering for users comfortable with annual billing: its Starter is 15.00 USD per month, billed $180 billed annually, with 260 credits / mo; its free tier offers 10 credits to try and supports JPG and PNG uploads up to 5MB.

Colourise offers an alternative web-based option with a 1-Month Plan at 39.99 USD per month and a 1-Year Plan at 59.99 USD.

TrueColorizer is another web-based alternative, with a free plan of 3 lifetime colorizations and a Starter plan at 4.99 USD per month for 50 colorizations.

Verdict

Choose ImageColorizer if you want one service for colorizing, repairing, and restoring old photos across web, desktop, and mobile, with a free monthly allowance to start. Its strongest reason to buy is the breadth of its AI photo tools; its clearest reason to look elsewhere is the credit accounting and upload-size guidance, especially for substantial archives.
