In their own words
imgproxy
imgproxy is a self-hosted HTTP server that transforms images on demand using a source URL and processing options. It can resize, crop, trim, rotate, pad, watermark, apply filters and color adjustments, and chain processing steps. Sources include HTTP(S), local files, Amazon S3-compatible storage, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, and OpenStack Swift. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, GIF, SVG, ICO, HEIC, BMP, TIFF, and animated GIF and WebP. Optimization can remove metadata and ICC profiles, quantize PNGs, and serve WebP, AVIF, or JPEG XL when a browser supports the format. imgproxy can run in Docker, Kubernetes with Helm, cloud environments, or on a local machine. Security options include signed URLs, authorization headers, source and file-size limits, dimension checks, URL expiration, and SVG sanitization. Pro adds video, PDF, and Photoshop previews, advanced compression and watermarking, object detection and cropping, automatic format selection, and priority support. The open-source version uses the MIT license. A free plan and 14-day trial are listed; Pro starts at $49 a month.
MiniPx
MiniPx is a browser-based tool for compressing, converting, and resizing images, with additional tools for background removal, upscaling, and passport photo creation. Its free plan keeps compression, conversion, and resizing unlimited without signup or a daily cap. It accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, BMP, SVG, GIF, and TIFF files; free batches are limited to five files. Compression presets are Gentle, Smart, and Tiny, and users can set a target size from 10 KB through 1 MB. Compression, conversion, and resizing run locally in the browser without uploading image files, and outputs remove EXIF metadata such as location and device information. Those core tools work offline after the first page load. Three on-device AI tools share two free runs before a cooldown, and need model downloads on first use. Pro adds unlimited batch processing, text watermarking, presets, responsive exports, and an opt-in cloud path for seven AI tools. The free plan costs nothing. Pro Annual costs $2,939 a year; no monthly Pro price is listed.
