In their own words
imgproxy
imgproxy is a self-hosted HTTP server that transforms images on demand using a source URL and processing options. It can resize, crop, trim, rotate, pad, watermark, apply filters and color adjustments, and chain processing steps. Sources include HTTP(S), local files, Amazon S3-compatible storage, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, and OpenStack Swift. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, GIF, SVG, ICO, HEIC, BMP, TIFF, and animated GIF and WebP. Optimization can remove metadata and ICC profiles, quantize PNGs, and serve WebP, AVIF, or JPEG XL when a browser supports the format. imgproxy can run in Docker, Kubernetes with Helm, cloud environments, or on a local machine. Security options include signed URLs, authorization headers, source and file-size limits, dimension checks, URL expiration, and SVG sanitization. Pro adds video, PDF, and Photoshop previews, advanced compression and watermarking, object detection and cropping, automatic format selection, and priority support. The open-source version uses the MIT license. A free plan and 14-day trial are listed; Pro starts at $49 a month.
Optimizilla
Optimizilla is a web image-compression tool for JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and SVG files. It processes images in the browser, supports batch work, and lets users adjust quality and preview the result before saving. The compressor uses format-specific handling: JPEG quality is inferred from quantization tables with a default target of 80; PNG files become PNG8 with up to 256 colors while preserving transparency; and animated GIF optimization reduces the palette while retaining frames. Compressed images have EXIF, GPS, and camera metadata removed. The site says files are not uploaded to its servers. Its free plan is free, with no registration, daily limit, or watermark, and is described as allowing unlimited compression. The pricing page also lists a 25 MB maximum file size and batches of up to 50 files for Free. Pro costs $9 a month and includes unlimited file size and batch uploads, among other tools. Enterprise pricing is custom and not listed; its plan includes custom integrations, without naming partners.
