In their own words

Inlet

Inlet is a private, AI-driven journaling assistant for recording and recalling personal experiences. It offers short daily prompts, and voice entries become editable text before saving. Entries can include photos or videos up to 30 seconds. Inlet can turn notes into diary entries using only what the user wrote, without adding events or feelings. Memory tools include quizzes based on a user’s entries and a living summary of what matters to them. Users can set aims and keep notes; both are marked beta on the welcome page. Groups can see when members are active, while entries are shared only when the author tags people and chooses to share. Inlet says data is stored in an encrypted database, photos in secure object storage, and app secrets separately. The service is available on web and iOS, with Android in open testing. Its free plan costs nothing and includes writing, prompts, aims, and day summaries.

Mindsera

Mindsera is an AI-powered journal that analyzes thoughts, detects emotions and surfaces patterns over time. Users can write, speak or photograph a physical journal page to extract its text. Entry analysis breaks down themes, emotions and takeaways, and can generate artwork; a conversational companion draws on earlier entries to ask questions, while Minds highlight parts of writing and comment on them. The service offers more than 52 journaling templates based on mental models and frameworks. Mindsera is available on the web, iOS and Android, with an Apple Watch voice-journaling app. Its mobile app can connect journaling and mood data with Apple Health. The company says journal writing is encrypted at rest and in transit, exportable in Markdown or PDF, and not used to train or improve AI models. It does not use end-to-end encryption because the AI features require processing by its systems and relevant providers. Mindsera says its AI is optimized for English and quality in other languages is not guaranteed. A free plan and trial are listed; paid plans start at $10.75/mo when billed annually.
