In their own words
Iris.fm
Iris.fm records remote podcast interviews in a browser, capturing each participant locally and delivering separate audio and video files for editing. Live captions appear during a session and are saved with the recording, while progressive uploads back up the session as it proceeds. Guests join through a browser link without installing an app or creating an Iris account. Rooms support host, producer, and guest roles with device controls and up to nine people recording at once. The service supports desktop and laptop browsers as well as iPhone and Android, with Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge listed. Users can create a branded studio with a custom URL. Paid plans include Google Drive and Dropbox uploads, and recording hours are counted by total session time rather than multiplied by participant count. Starter costs $9 a month and includes two recording hours; Pro costs $19 a month and includes five, while Studio costs $29 a month and includes ten. Iris operates its services in the United States, where information from users elsewhere is transferred, stored, and processed.
NowMax
NowMax is a video calling app for remote interviews with experts, aimed at podcasters, content creators, journalists, and marketers. A host creates an interview and shares a link for guests to join from their devices. During the conversation, the host can remotely adjust guests’ audio and video settings without interrupting the interview. NowMax records audio and video locally on each participant’s device to reduce the effect of connection problems on recording quality. It advertises uncompressed 48 kHz WAV audio and video up to 4K at a constant frame rate. Separate audio and video tracks are exported in WAV and AVC/HEVC formats for editing tools including Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Microsoft Clipchamp. The service describes live recording status indicators and says recordings have no audio/video drift issues. Recording runs in a browser; listed platforms are Android, iOS, web, and Windows. Pricing is on request. The privacy policy says recordings are stored for as long as the interviewer requires them, and that internet traffic is protected by SSL encryption.
